James Brady (1940–2014) was an assistant to the U.S. President and the fifteenth White House Press Secretary under President Ronald Reagan. James Brady
James Scott Brady (August 29, 1940 – August 4, 2014) was an American public official who served as assistant to the U.S. president and the seventeenth White House Press Secretary, serving under President Ronald Reagan. In 1981, Brady became permanently disabled from a gunshot wound during the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan, just two months and 10 days after Reagan's inauguration. Brady's death in 2014 was eventually ruled a homicide, caused by the gunshot wound he received 33 years earlier. Early career Brady began his career in public service as a staff member in the office of Illinois senator Everett Dirksen (R-IL). James H. Brady (born June 27, 1963 in Tampa, Florida) is an American former competitive sailor who won a silver medal at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. Career Brady was awarded the Rolex Yachtsman of the Year award in 1990. At the 1992 Summer Olympics, Brady finished in 2nd place in the soling class along with his partners Kevin Mahaney and Doug Kern. After the Barcelona Olympics, Brady competed as navigator for Dennis Conner on Team Stars & Stripes in the 1995 America’s Cup and as tactician on '' Young America'' during the 2000 Louis Vuitton Cup. James Robert Brady (born 11 February 1931) is an Irish former international rugby union player. A Belfast native, Brady was educated at Belfast High School and represented Ulster from schoolboys level. He played his senior rugby for Belfast's CIYMS club and won Ireland selection in his first season of top-grade rugby. Brady, a bank clerk by profession, was capped 12 times by Ireland as second-row forward. James Murphy Brady (August 11, 1907 – January 12, 1984), a grandson of Idaho governor James H. Brady, was an American football player and broadcasting entrepreneur. After graduating from Pocatello High School in Idaho, Brady tried out for the football team at Notre Dame, but was told by coach Knute Rockne that he was far too small. But over time his persistence paid off, and in 1927 he was named the starting quarterback. Brady was the quarterback for the legendary "Win one for the Gipper" game against Army on November 10, 1928—dramatized in the film ''Knute Rockne, All American''. Returning to Idaho Falls in 1933, he joined the family business at ''The Post Register'' newspaper. James Joseph Brady Jr. (born March 2, 1936) is an American economist, retired university educator and administrator, and a former left-handed pitcher in professional baseball. A native of Jersey City, New Jersey, he attended and earned three degrees from the University of Notre Dame. Brady was the eighth president of Jacksonville University (1989–96), after service as dean of both the university's College of Arts and Sciences and Davis College of Business. Prior to that, he held the department chair in economics at Old Dominion University and was a member of the economics faculty of his alma mater, Notre Dame.
