James Riley "The Baker" Blake (born December 28, 1979) is an American former professional tennis player. He was known for his speed and powerful, flat forehand. During his career, Blake amassed 24 singles finals appearances (winning 10 of them), while his career-high singles ranking was world No. 4. His career highlights included reaching the final of the 2006 Tennis Masters Cup, the semifinals of the 2008 Beijing Olympics (upsetting world No. 1 Roger Federer en route), the quarterfinals of the 2008 Australian Open and 2005 and 2006 US Open, as well as two titles at the Hopman Cup (2003, 2004) and being the American men's singles No. 1. Blake was a key performer for the victorious United States 2007 Davis Cup team, going 2–0 in the championship tie vs. Russia at second singles. Ronald James Blake
Ronald James Blake, GBS, OBE, JP (, born 2 April 1934) is a civil engineer, and a former Secretary for Works in the government of colonial Hong Kong. He was appointed to the post of acting CEO of Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) on 16 March 2006 to replace the outgoing Samuel Lai. Early life James Blake was born in the UK in 1934. He studied structural engineering part-time whilst working as a draftsman for an engineering firm after leaving school. Career While serving with the Royal Engineers in Her Majesty's Armed Forces he arrived in the Territory for the first time in 1958. He qualified as a Chartered Engineer two years later. He settled in Hong Kong in 1965 and worked in various private companies, participating in the construction of the Cross-Harbour Tunnel as well as the MTR amongst other projects. James Vila Blake
James Vila Blake (18421925) was an American Unitarian minister, essayist, playwright and hymn writer and poet. Blake was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 21, 1842. He graduated from Harvard College in 1862, and from Harvard Divinity School in 1866. He served as pastor in several Unitarian churches in Massachusetts and Illinois. He died in Chicago on April 28, 1925. James Henry Blake
James Henry Blake (October 7, 1808 – August 1, 1874) was the City Marshal of Boston from 1840–1845. He was the son of Edward Blake and Sarah (Parkman) Blake and nephew of Dr. George Parkman.Blake 73 The Parkmans and Blakes were two prominent families of the Boston Brahmins who were well respected merchants. Blake established himself as a merchant and real estate broker and also served in the Massachusetts Artillery as Major of Independents Cadets beginning in 1830. In 1831, while conducting business aboard the ship ''Mentos'', two pirates boarded the boat where Blake witnessed their arrest. He testified against the pirates in the first of his many court appearances. On May 12, 1835, he married Marianne Wildes of Boston and ran his brokerage on State Street. James "Spanish" Blake
James "Spanish" Blake, Anglo-Irish merchant, soldier, and spy, born after 1560, died 20 February 1630. A member of one of The Tribes of Galway, Blake was the second son of Walter Blake (died 1575) and Juliana Browne. His grandfather and brothers served as Mayors of Galway; his elder brother, Valentine Blake (1560–1634) was created a baronet in 1622. In 1587, Blake was trading in sack and acquavite from Spain. The following year, he worked salvaging material from ships of the Armada wrecked on the Irish coast. He moved through the world of international intrigue as an agent for, variously, the Irish, English, French and Spanish during the Nine Years War in the 1590s. He has been named as the assassin of Red Hugh O'Donnell in Spain in 1602. He was in the company of O'Donnell at the time of his death, and offered his services to Sir George Carew for the plot. James Blake (1922February 20, 1979) was a jazz musician and petty thief who became a literary sensation in the 1950s when he published his letters in the ''Paris Review''. Early life James Blake was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, and moved with the family to the United States in 1929, at age 7. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and studied to be a concert pianist. He attended the University of Illinois and Northwestern University. Career Blake left college and became the accompanist for Anita O'Day, a jazz singer, and for Lord Buckley, a comedian. He also played for Bud Freeman, Stuff Smith, June Christie and Chris Connor.
