James Blake (album)
''James Blake'' is the debut studio album by London-based electronic music producer James Blake. It was released in both the United Kingdom and the United States on his own label, ATLAS, supported by A&M Records, on 4 February 2011. The release was supported with the release of its first single, " Limit to Your Love", on 28 November 2010. The album was released to widespread critical acclaim, and was nominated for the 2011 Mercury Prize. A deluxe edition was released on 10 October 2011 with different artwork and bundled with a second disc, Blake's then-new EP '' Enough Thunder'', which was also released separately. James Blake (musician)
James Blake Litherland (born 26 September 1988) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He first received recognition for a series of 2010 EPs including ''CMYK'' and '' Klavierwerke'', and he released his self-titled debut album in 2011 to critical praise. His second album ''Overgrown'' was released in 2013, bringing him to international attention, and later was awarded the Mercury Prize. In 2016, he released his third album '' The Colour in Anything'' and his fourth album '' Assume Form'' in 2019, both receiving positive reviews and the latter becoming his highest-peaking album in the US ''Billboard'' 200, at number 21. During his career, he has collaborated with artists including Mount Kimbie and Bon Iver and has contributed production work to artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Vince Staples, Frank Ocean, Rosalía and Travis Scott. A Case Of You (James Blake Song)
"A Case of You" is a song by Joni Mitchell, from her 1971 album ''Blue''. Writing and recording Mitchell wrote "A Case of You" in or before 1970. As with many of the songs on her album ''Blue'', it might have been inspired by her relationship with Graham Nash. It is also claimed that it is about Leonard Cohen. She performed the song at the Amchitka Greenpeace benefit concert in October 1970. She recorded the song in 1971, and it was released on the 1971 album ''Blue'' with Mitchell playing Appalachian dulcimer, accompanied by James Taylor on acoustic guitar, which was tuned to standard tuning, (EADGBE), although there are cover versions played in an open G tuning (DGDGBD). Mitchell's earliest public performances of "A Case of You" contain six lines that had changed by the time ''Blue'' was recorded. ''CMYK'' is the second solo extended play by London-based Independent music, indie record producer, producer James Blake (musician), James Blake. It was released in both the United Kingdom and the United States on R&S Records on 28 May 2010. It music sample, samples many tracks, mostly from 1990s Contemporary R&B, R&B. The EP received positive reviews from critics. Composition The title track samples Kelis' "Caught Out There" and Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?". Pitchfork (website), Pitchfork described the track as "modern homage to old ideas" as Blake "[took] two R&B archetypes ... and imagines them in a back and forth." On the track, Blake sings normally and also occasionally uses a vocoder to process his voice. The track is influenced by 1990s rave pop and also contains synthesizers. The Bells Sketch
''The Bells Sketch'' is the debut EP of London-based producer James Blake. It was released on 8 March 2010 by Hessle Audio. The EP received very positive reviews from music critics. Composition The songs on ''The Bells Sketch'' have a speed of around 72 beats per minute, which is considered slow for dance music. The title track of the EP features "playful" vocals, "erratic jazz piano basslines", and synthesizers. The song's vocals are a mix of samples and Blake's own voice. It opens with a violin-like sound, after which Blake starts singing. After each phrase, a "video-game noise" covers up the vocals. Halfway through the track, Blake's voice is drowned out by bass. The next track, "Buzzard and Kestrel", starts with a mixture of muffled vocals and dog whistle melodies. The song stays this way for half its duration, until a cowbell is played. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums.
