James Bates (Maine Politician)
James Bates (September 24, 1789 – February 25, 1882) was a United States representative from Maine. He was born in Greene, Massachusetts (now in Maine), on September 24, 1789. He attended the common schools. He studied medicine at Harvard Medical School. He was a surgeon during the War of 1812. He was elected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-second Congress (March 4, 1831 – March 3, 1833). He then became a hospital executive. He died, aged 92, on February 25, 1882, in Yarmouth, Maine. James Woodson Bates
James Woodson Bates (August 25, 1788 – December 26, 1846) was an American lawyer and statesman from Sebastian County, Arkansas. He represented the Arkansas Territory as a delegate to the United States House of Representatives. Early life and education James was born in Goochland County, Virginia at his parents' plantation known as Belmont. Part of a political family, Bates was the younger brother of Frederick Bates, second governor of Missouri; and older brother of Edward Bates, who served as US Attorney General to President Abraham Lincoln. He was the ninth child of Thomas and Caroline (Woodson) Bates. He started his advanced education at Yale University but soon transferred to Princeton University, where he graduated in 1807. Jim Bates (born May 31, 1946) is a former American football coach in the National Football League (NFL), most recently serving as defensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He primarily ran a 4–3 scheme, using fast, undersized linebackers. Bates served as interim head coach for the Miami Dolphins during the 2004 NFL season. Coaching career Collegiate coaching Bates' coaching career began as a graduate assistant with the Tennessee Volunteers in 1968. Bates then spent the next three seasons as head coach at Sevier County High School in Sevierville, Tennessee, before returning to the collegiate ranks with the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles in 1972. In 1973, he coached the offensive line for the Villanova Wildcats and the linebackers coach in 1974. Bates spent the 1975–1976 seasons as the Kansas State Wildcats' linebackers coach. Jim Bates (born July 21, 1941) is a former Democratic politician from San Diego, California. He served four terms in the United States House of Representatives from 1983 to 1991. He was the first congressman to be disciplined for sexual harassment. Biography Bates was born in Denver, Colorado, and graduated from East High School (Denver) in 1959. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1959, and served in the Corps until 1963. Relocating to San Diego, Bates became a banker and was employed in the aerospace industry. He obtained his bachelor's degree from San Diego State University in 1975. Political career Bates was elected to the San Diego city council in 1971 and served until 1974. Personal life and education Bates is based in Lafayette, Louisiana and was aged 29 in August 2021. He studied psychology.
