James Barry (Wisconsin Politician)
James Barry was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly. Biography Barry was born on March 17, 1812, in County Londonderry, Ireland. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of North America. On January 22, 1836, he married Elizabeth Porter. Barry died on November 12, 1883. Career Barry was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly during the 1879 session. James Alexander Barry
James Alexander Barry (January 13, 1886 – May 21, 1950) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1936 to 1941 as a member of the Conservative Party. Barry was born in Winnipeg, the son of Michael Joseph Barry and Ellen Curless, who had come to Manitoba from New Brunswick in 1879. He was educated at St. Mary's and Immaculate Conception Schools. Barry worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway as head clerk of the superintendent's office in Winnipeg. He served on Winnipeg city council from 1921 to 1925. In 1927, he married Delmar Erickson. He first ran for the Manitoba legislature in the 1932 provincial election, in the constituency of Winnipeg. At the time, Winnipeg elected ten members via a single transferable ballot. Barry finished seventeenth on the first count, as was defeated on transfers. He fared better in the 1936 election, finishing sixth on the first count and securing election on the sixteenth. James Curran Barry (March 7, 1870 – April 4, 1943) was an American boxer who held the world bantamweight championship from 1894 to 1899. Commonly referred to as "The Little Tiger", Barry retired undefeated with a record of 59–0–10. He was inducted into ''The Ring'' magazine Hall of Fame in 2000. Career He was born in Goose Island on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois, on March 7, 1870, to Garrett and Mary Barry. He learned to box in rough schoolboy bouts, but trained for the profession in earnest by 13 when he began taking lessons at McGurn's Handball Courts in Chicago. James Barry (born 29 June 1990) is an Irish hurling, hurler who plays for Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship, Tipperary Senior Championship club Upperchurch–Drombane GAA, Upperchurch–Drombane. He played for the Tipperary senior hurling team for six seasons, during which time he usually lined out in defence as a centre-back and later as a full-back. Barry began his hurling career at club level with Upperchurch-Drombane. He broke onto the club's top adult team as a 15-year-old in 2005 and has been an ever-present defender since then. James Barry, 1st Baron Barry of Santry PC (Ire) (1603–1673) was an Irish lawyer, judge and peer. Early life Barry was the son of Richard Barry and his wife Anne Cusacke; Anne was the daughter of John Cusacke of Rathgar Castle and his wife Margaret Gough (née Allen). His father and both his grandfathers were wealthy merchants of Dublin, his grandfather James Barry having been Sheriff of Dublin City, while his father was Lord Mayor of Dublin (1610–11) and representative in the Irish House of Commons for Dublin (1613–15). His maternal grandfather John Cusacke had also been Mayor from 1608–1609. Nicholas Kerdiffe, a senior Law Officer, married his aunt.
