James Adams (cricketer, Born 1980)
James Henry Kenneth Adams (born 23 September 1980), known as Jimmy Adams, is an English former professional cricketer. He played as a left-handed batsman and left-arm medium-pace bowler. He first starred for the England Under-19s having previously represented his country at the Under-15 and Under-19 World Cups. Having been named as Hampshire's Young Player of the Year, he captained Loughborough UCCE in 2003 and made his maiden first-class century against Somerset in 2003. He was a member of Hampshire's 2005 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy winning squad. In 2008, Adams played three Minor Counties fixtures for Dorset. During the 2009 season, Hampshire progressed to win the final of the 2009 Friends Provident Trophy. Adams scored half-centuries in both the semi-final and the final sharing large opening stands with Michael Lumb, including 55 runs in a stand of 93 with Lumb in the final at Lord's, helping Hampshire to a 6 wicket victory over Sussex. HRV Twenty20 Cup
The Men's Super Smash, currently named the Dream11 Super Smash for sponsorship purposes until 2026, is a men's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition in New Zealand. Auckland Aces
The Auckland cricket team represent the Auckland region and are one of six New Zealand domestic first class cricket teams. Governed by the Auckland Cricket Association they are the most successful side having won 28 Plunket Shield titles, ten wins in The Ford Trophy and the Super Smash four times. The side currently play their home games at Eden Park Outer Oval. The limited overs side, known as the Auckland Aces, have a predominantly light blue kit with a navy and white trim. Clydesdale Bank 40
The ECB40, last known as the Yorkshire Bank 40 (YB40) for sponsorship reasons, was a forty-over limited overs cricket competition for the English first-class counties. It began in the 2010 English cricket season as a replacement for the Pro40 and Friends Provident Trophy competitions. Yorkshire Bank were the last sponsors, taking over the naming rights from their parent company Clydesdale Bank for the 2013 edition. Warwickshire won the inaugural tournament. Warwickshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Warwickshire. 2009 County Championship
The 2009 County Championship season, known as the LV County Championship for sponsorship reasons, was the 110th County Championship season. It was contested through two divisions: Division One and Division Two. Each team played all the others in their division both home and away. The top two teams from Division Two were promoted to the first division for the 2010 season, while the bottom two sides from Division 1 were relegated. Durham County Cricket Club won the Championship for the second consecutive season. Worcestershire and Sussex were relegated from Division One, with Kent and Essex promoted in their place. Run (cricket)
In cricket, a run is the unit of scoring. The team with the most runs wins in many versions of the game, and always draws at worst (see result), except for some results decided by the DLS method, which is used in rain-shortened limited-overs games when the two teams have had a different number of opportunities to score runs. One run (known as a "single") is scored when the two batters (the striker and the non-striker) start off positioned at opposite ends of the pitch (which has a length of 22 yards) and then they each arrive safely at the other end of the pitch (i.e. they cross each other without being run out). There is no limit on the number of runs that may be scored off of a single delivery, and depending on how long it takes the fielding team to recover the ball, the batters may run more than once. First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Sussex. Its limited overs team is called the Sussex Sharks.
