Jalgaon City Assembly constituency is one of the 288 Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha, Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Maharashtra state in western India. Overview Jalgaon City (constituency number 13) is one of the 11 Vidhan Sabha constituencies located in Jalgaon district. This constituency covers Jalgaon Municipal Corporation and part of Jalgaon taluka of the district. The number of electors in 2009 were 308,762 (male 164,987, female 143,775). Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha
The Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha or the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the Nariman Point area of South Mumbai in the capital Mumbai. Presently, 288 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from the single-seat constituencies. The members of the upper house, the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad (the legislative council) are indirectly elected through an electoral college. Sessions The budget session and the monsoon session are convened in Mumbai whereas the winter session is convened in the auxiliary capital Nagpur. Jalgaon () is a city in Maharashtra, India. The city is located in North Maharashtra, and serves as the administrative headquarters of its namesake district, the Jalgaon district. Jalgaon is colloquially known as the “''Banana City of India''" as the region's (Jalgaon district) farmers grow approximately two-thirds of Maharashtra's banana production. The Girna river flows from the western part of the city. Jalgaon is situated in the Khandesh region of North Maharashtra. In 1906 Khandesh was divided between East Khandesh and West Khandesh, and Jalgaon became the headquarters of East Khandesh district.
