Handball Club Zubří or HC ROBE Zubří is a Czech handball club based in Zubří, Czech Republic. History The club was founded in 1926. In 1957 Hc Zubří played the first international match, lost 15:17 against ASK Vorwärts Berlin. Club advanced to the second league in 1958 and in 1960 Czech Handball Extraliga. HT Tatran Prešov is a handball club from Prešov, Slovakia, that plays in the Slovenská hadzanárska extraliga, Niké Handball Extraliga, SEHA League, EHF European League. History The official establishment of the club begins in 1952 under the name Slavia CSSA. In 1954, Tatran successfully qualified for the championship of Czechoslovakia, where they won their first historic bronze medal. In 1967, the national team of Czechoslovakia became world champion in Sweden. Four Tatran Presov players were in the national team at that time: Anton Frolo, Martin Gregor, Vladimir Seruga and Rudolf Horváth. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The Tipos Extraliga (Slovak Extraliga) is the highest-level ice hockey league in Slovakia. From the 2018–19 season to the 2020–21 season, the league included one or two teams from Hungary. The Czech Republic national handball team is the national handball team of the Czech Republic. It was most successful in the mid-1990s, with sixth place at the 1996 European Championship and a win over the later runners-up Croatia at the 1995 World Championship, but the team have failed to qualify for major championships on several occasions since. Before the Czech Republic became independent in 1993, the Czechoslovakia national team won five World Championship medals between 1954 and 1967, and qualified for every World Championship between 1954 and 1993.
