Jakov Gojun
Jakov Gojun (born 18 April 1986) is a Croatian handball player for Füchse Berlin. He competed for the Croatia national team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, winning the bronze medal. Due to his defensive playing style he has been nicknamed the ''Minister of defense'' by fans of the national team. Early life Gojun was born 18 April 1986 in Split, Croatia. At a young age he started playing handball in his hometown club of HRK Krilnik. Jakov Fak
Jakov Fak (born 1 August 1987) is a Croatian biathlete competing for Slovenia since 2010. As a member of the Croatian biathlon team, Fak won bronze medals at the 2009 World Championships and at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where he was also the Croatian flag bearer at the opening ceremony. In 2010, Fak switched his citizenship and started competing for Slovenia. Fak won four medals at the World Championships with the Slovenian team, including two gold and a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. In addition, Fak has eight victories in the World Cup. Career Fak began to compete in biathlon in 2001 under the trainer Robert Petrović. His first international biathlon tournament was the Junior World Championships in Ridnaun in 2002, where his best result was 64th place in the Sprint event. Jakov Vladović
Jakov Vladović (born 17 April 1983) is a Croatian professional basketball coach and former basketball player. Standing at 1.87 m, he played at the point guard position. Professional career Vladović began his career in Zadar. He spent there six seasons during which we won the Adriatic League, the Croatian League and four Croatian Cups. In the summer of 2007 he moved to Zagreb. In his first season there, he wins another Croatian Cup. During the 2008–09 season he had a lot of health problems, which is why he missed a significant number of games. In the Adriatic League he played only 11 games with an average of 10.8 points, two assists and 2.3 rebounds in 24:42 minutes. Jakov Lind (born ''Heinz Jakov Landwirth'', 10 February 1927 in Vienna – 16 February 2007 in London) was an Austrian-British writer of short stories and novels. Early life After the annexation of Austria by Germany in 1938, Jews were immediately targeted by the new Nazi regime with anti-Semitic decrees designed to make their lives untenable and force them to leave Austria. The decrees included prohibition of using public transportation, of being employed, and of operating businesses. Jews were expelled from schools and universities, had their businesses "Aryanized", a euphemism for their theft and confiscation by the Nazi regime, and were harassed with washing street signs of the previous regime in front of cheering and violent mobs. Jakov Ignjatović
Jakov Ignjatović ( sr-cyr, Јаков Игњатовић, 8 December 1822 – 5 July 1889) was a novelist and prose writer, who primarily wrote in Serbian but also in Hungarian. He was also an active member of Matica Srpska. Biography Jakov Ignjatović was born in Szentendre on 8 December 1822. He finished elementary school in Szentendre and studied at the Gymnasium in Vác, Esztergom and Pest. He enrolled in Law School at Pest, but left the university and joined the hussars. Later, he graduated law in Kecskemét, where he started his law practice in 1847 for a short time, but during the Hungarian revolution of 1848 in a Romantic fervor, he joined Hungarian forces in fighting against the Austrians, in contradiction to what most Serbs and Croats in Austria of the time did, siding with the empire. Jakov Nenadović
Jakov Nenadović ( sr-cyr, Јаков Ненадовић; 1765 – 1836) was a Serbian voivode and politician who served as the prime minister of Serbia from 31 December 1810 to 22 January 1811. He was the first Serbian interior minister. Nenadović was the most influential figure in Serbia at the time beside Karađorđe and Janko Katić. Life Jakov was the younger brother of Aleksa Nenadović (1749–1804), a Serbian nobleman who held a province around Valjevo. He was grandnephew of Grigorije Nenadović, metropolitan of Raška and Valjevo. His brother was executed in the Slaughter of the Dukes on January 31, 1804, which sparked the First Serbian Uprising. Jakov Xoxa
Jakov Xoxa (15 April 1923 – 11 November 1979) was an author from Albania of the 20th century. Biography Xoxa had ethnic Aromanian origins from Korçë. He born in the town of Fier, Albania on April 15, 1923 and died on November 11, 1979. He studied at the Qemal Stafa High School, in Tirana, Albania. Although at a relatively young age, like many other Albanian intellectuals he participated in the Anti-Fascist War. After the Liberation of the country he continued his studies in philology and began writing poetry and prose. In 1949 he published his first prose novel. Beginning in 1957 he worked as a professor in the Faculty of History and Philology at the University of Tirana, where for many years he lectured on literary theory. He died in 1979 in Budapest. A former cultural attaché during the 1990s in the Franjo Tuđman government, his documentaries promote Croatian nationalist views through propaganda. Jakov Bienenfeld
Jakov Bienenfeld (28 July 1948 – 8 February 2016) was a Croatian entrepreneur and developer. Life and career Bienenfeld was born in Zagreb on 28 July 1948 to a Jewish family. Most of his family perished during the Holocaust. His father, Zlatko Bienenfeld, was Major general of the Croatian Army and personal adviser to late Croatian defence minister Gojko Šušak. He was a prominent entrepreneur who owned several successful businesses, including a travel agency and a developing company. In the 1990s Bienenfeld brought an exclusive German fashion brand Escada to Croatia. Bienenfeld was also a council member of the Zagreb Jewish community. During the Croatian War of Independence, in 1991, he co-organized aid convoy on ferryboat "Ilirija" to bring the humanitarian aid to besieged Dubrovnik. Jakov Gotovac
Jakov Gotovac (11 October 189516 October 1982) was a Croatian composer and conductor of classical music. His comic opera, ''Ero s onoga svijeta'' (''Ero the Joker''), Croatia's best-known opera, was first performed in Zagreb in 1935. Biography Gotovac was born in Split (then part of Austria-Hungary) and initially had little if any formal education in music. Jakov was fortunate to be encouraged and supported by Josip Hatze, Cyril Metodej Hrazdira, Cyril Metoděj Hrazdira and Antun Dobronić who instilled him with a nationalistic orientation in music. He started as a law student in Zagreb, but switched to writing music in 1920. In Vienna, he studied in the class of Joseph Marx.
