Jakobe Mansztajn
Jakobe Mansztajn (born February 10, 1982, in Gdańsk) is a Polish poet and blogger. Life and career He studied psychology at the University of Gdańsk. He works as deputy editor of the literary quarterly ''Korespondencja z ojcem''. He is the author of the poetry collection ''Vienna High Life'' (2009) for which he has received many awards, including the prestigious 2010 Wroclaw Silesius Poetry Award in the Best Debut category, the 2010 Sztorm Roku Award founded by ''Gazeta Wyborcza'', and has also been nominated for the Gdynia Literary Prize. He was one of the initiators of the ''Zjednoczenie czytelnicze'' social campaign aimed at promoting reading books in Poland. His debut collection has been described as "one of the most distinctive in the past years in Polish literature" and gained wide critical acclaim. His works have been translated into many languages including German, Hebrew, English, Belarusian, and Norwegian. He is a co-host of the satirical Internet TV programme ''Make ... Pol'and'Rock Festival
Pol'and'Rock Festival, formerly known as Woodstock Festival Poland, (Polish: ''Przystanek Woodstock''; "Woodstock Station"; English-language materials often referred to it simply to the ''Woodstock Festival Poland'') is an annual free rock music festival in Poland, inspired by the Woodstock festival. The festival has been held since 1995. In 2009 Woodstock Festival Poland gathered an audience of over 400,000 people, in 2011 the attendance was above 700,000, in 2012 about 550,000 people, in 2013 about 500,000 and in 2014 the attendance reached a record high of about 750,000. As of 2019, the aggregate attendance of the festival is 750,000 making it one of the biggest music festivals in the world. Polish Literature
Polish literature is the literary tradition of Poland. Most Polish literature has been written in the Polish language, though other languages used in Poland over the centuries have also contributed to Polish literary traditions, including Latin, Yiddish, Lithuanian, Russian, German and Esperanto. According to Czesław Miłosz, for centuries Polish literature focused more on drama and poetic self-expression than on fiction (dominant in the English speaking world). The reasons were manifold but mostly rested on the historical circumstances of the nation. Gdynia Literary Prize
Gdynia Literary Prize ( pl, Nagroda Literacka Gdynia) is a Polish literary prize, which is awarded annually to authors of the best books published in the previous year in the prose, poetry, essay and (since 2014) translation categories. It was established in 2006 by Wojciech Szczurek, mayor of Gdynia, who stated that "The idea of Gdynia Literary Prize is to honour unique achievements of contemporary Polish authors which shall determine a strong and also permanent impulse to further intensify activities in literature and art in its broad meaning". The list of nominees is announced in May during the International Book Fair (Międzynarowe Targi Książki) in Warsaw. Silesius Poetry Award
The Silesius Poetry Award (Polish: ''Wrocławska Nagroda Poetycka Silesius'') is an annual Polish literary prize presented by the city of Wrocław, Lower Silesia. History The award was established in 2008 and is presented during the Port Literacki Wrocław Festival. It takes its name from a prominent Silesian Baroque poet Angelus Silesius (1624–1677). The award was created on the initiative of Jarosław Broda, head of the Wroclaw Department of Culture, and is funded by the city of Wrocław.
