Jakob Georg Agardh
Jacob Georg Agardh (8 December 1813 in Lund, Sweden – 17 January 1901 in Lund, Sweden) was a Swedish botanist, phycologist, and taxonomist. He was the son of Carl Adolph Agardh, and from 1854 until 1879 was professor of botany at Lund University. Agardh designed the current 1862 blueprints for the botanical garden Botaniska trädgården in Lund. In 1849, he was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Agardh was elected a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1878. Oscar Björck
Oscar Gustaf Björck (15 January 1860 – 5 December 1929) was a Swedish painter and a professor at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts. Biography Born in Stockholm, from 1877 to 1882, Björck was a student of Edvard Perséus at the Academy where his paintings included ''Loke fängslas af asarne'' ( Loki imprisoned by Æsir) (1880), ''Gustaf Vasa inför kung Hans'' (Gustaf Vasa before King Hans) (1881) and ''Den förlorade sonens Ã¥terkomst'' ( Return of the prodigal son) (1882) which was awarded the Royal Medal. In 1883, Björck was awarded a travel scholarship. He spent the winter of 1883–84 in Paris. The following winter, he went to Munich where he painted a few portraits, including a full-length painting of his wife. Louisa Isabella Chaulk Baudinet
Louisa Isabella Chaulk Baudinet, also known as Lucy Baudinet or Miss Baudinet (7 April 1825 – 13 February 1901) was an Australian botanical collector. Life Louisa Isabella Chaulk Baudinet was born on 7 April 1825 in London to William Chaulk (later Baudinet) (c.1799–1865), and Augusta Louisa née Baudinet (1805–1873). She was the second of twelve children in the family. In 1829, the family migrated to Western Australia, and in 1831 to Tasmania. In 1838–1847, Baudinet's father was the first lighthouse keeper on Bruny Island, and in 1848–1865, on Deal Island in the Kent Group. After the death of her parents, Baudinet lived with her siblings and never married. Baudinet collected specimens on Swan Island, where she lived with a brother who was lighthouse keeper there in 1869, and at Cape Portland and Clarke Island, 1883–1885. Lund (, , ) is a city in the southern Swedish province of Scania, across the Öresund strait from Copenhagen. The town had 91,940 inhabitants out of a municipal total of 121,510 .
