Jake Thielman
John Peter Thielman (May 20, 1879 – January 28, 1928) was a German-American pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1905 through 1908 for the St. Louis Cardinals (1905–1906), Cleveland Naps (1907–1908) and Boston Red Sox (1908). He was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota, on May 20, 1879, to Leonard and Mary Thielman. Leonard was a hardware dealer at the time of the 1900 census, a German immigrant who had come to the United States around 1858. Mary had been born in New York to German immigrant parents. Pitcher
In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1.
