Jake Moody
Jake Moody (born ) is an American football placekicker for the Michigan Wolverines. He won the 2021 Lou Groza Award and was the consensus first-team placekicker on the 2021 college football All-America team. Early years Moody attended Northville High School in Northville, Michigan. He played both football and baseball (as a third baseman) at Northville High. University of Michigan Moody committed to Michigan in February 2018. He initially committed without a scholarship but was put on scholarship in June 2018. As a true freshman in 2018, Moody set a Michigan single-game record with six field goals in a 31–20 victory over Indiana. In April 2020, he set a personal record in practice with a 69-yard field goal. 2021 season As a senior in 2021, he successfully converted 22 of 24 field goal attempts and 56 of 56 extra point kicks. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. George Blanda, Lou Groza, Frank Gifford and Paul Hornung are prominent examples of players who were stars at other positions as well as being known for their kicking abilities. Garrett Rivas
Garrett Rivas (born June 1, 1985) is a former American football kicker who played in af2 and the Arena Football League (AFL). He played college football at Michigan where he held the former school records for career scoring, field goals and point after touchdowns and was a three-time All-Big Ten Conference selection during his time there. As a professional, he played for the Florida Firecats of af2 and the Tampa Bay Storm of the AFL. High school career Rivas attended Jesuit High School in Tampa, Florida where he played wide receiver and kicker. He played kicker because it increased his chance to make the team. Among his high school honors was selection to the Tampa Chapter of the Hall of Fame for Scholar Athletes. Tom Harmon
Thomas Dudley Harmon (September 28, 1919 – March 15, 1990), known as Tom Harmon, as well as by the nickname "Old 98", was an American football player, military pilot, actor, and sports broadcaster. Harmon grew up in Gary, Indiana, and played college football at the halfback position for the University of Michigan from 1938 to 1940. He led the nation in scoring and was a consensus All-American in both 1939 and 1940 and won the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award, and the Associated Press Athlete of the Year award in 1940. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1954. During World War II, Harmon served as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Forces. In April 1943, he was the sole survivor of the crash of a bomber he piloted in South America en route to North Africa. Anthony Thomas (born November 7, 1977), nicknamed "A-Train", is a former American football running back. Thomas played college football at the University of Michigan from 1997 to 2000. He broke Michigan's career rushing record with a four-year total of 4,472 yards. As a senior, he rushed for 1,733 yards and was selected as a first-team running back on the 2000 All-Big Ten Conference football team.
