Jak punk to punk ( Polish language: If it is punk, then it is punk) is a Polish compilation album, published by the record label Tonpress in 1988. The album features songs of various Polish punk rock bands of the 1980s, including Armia, Dezerter and Siekiera. ''Jak punk to punk'' was produced by Włodzimierz Kowalczyk and Tadeusz Czechak. Polish (Polish: ''język polski'', , ''polszczyzna'' or simply ''polski'', ) is a West Slavic language of the Lechitic group written in the Latin script. Armia
Armia ( en, Army) is Polish punk rock band founded in 1985 by Tomasz Budzyński, Sławomir Gołaszewski and Robert Brylewski. Armia is famous for its use of horn, which was unusual of punk rock bands in late 1980s and 1990s. With poetic (often inspired by philosophy and literature) lyrics, written by Budzyński, and evolving, creative music Armia has gained popularity and respect over the years, and its concerts now attract numerous fans of rock music. Armia's lyrics and cover art has frequently alluded to philosophy, literature and religion. The cover of the LP ''Legenda'' (''A Legend'') features Don Quijote and some lyrics were inspired by gnosticism. Dezerter
Dezerter, founded as SS-20 in May 1981 in Warsaw, is one of the most popular punk bands from Poland. The band was founded by three students of Warsaw's vocational high school ( technikum) - Robert "Robal" Matera (guitar), Krzysztof Grabowski (drums), and Dariusz "Stepa" Stepnowski (bass). All three were born in 1963, and went to the same class. From the beginning Grabowski wrote lyrics, and Matera music. The three classmates originally planned to name their band Sektor A, but after some time changed their minds and named it SS-20. Soon afterwards, they were joined by another student of the same school, Dariusz "Skandal" Hajn (voc., born 1965), who, as Grabowski later stated, "looked like a real punkrocker". The band started regular rehearsals in the summer of 1981. Siekiera (Polish for ''"Axe"'') was a Polish post-punk band. With fast, aggressive music and lyrics filled with obscenities, the band was a sensation at the 1984 Jarocin Festival. After lineup changes, the band switched to new wave and then dissolved in 1988. Career Siekiera formed in 1982 or 1983 in Puławy, Poland, under the name of "Trafo". The original line-up consisted of guitarist Tomasz Adamski, vocalist Tomasz Budzyński, bass player Jerzy Janaczek, and drummer Irek "Borys" Czerniak. They started by playing cover songs of UK Subs and The Exploited. In the autumn of 1983 they changed their name to Siekiera (Polish for "Axe"). The original line-up was Tomasz Adamski (a.k.a. Abaddon is a Polish punk rock band. History Early history The band got together in Bydgoszcz in 1982 under the name "Partyzantka Miejska" ("Urban Guerilla"), but soon decided on the name "Abaddon".''Encyklopedia polskiego rocka'' (1997) Leszek Gnoiński, Jan Skaradziński, str. 21, Their first significant performance occurred at the Jarocin Festival in 1983. Soon after that, two days before a show in Poznań, the lead singer Wolf quit the group. Kiki (Waldek Jedyczowski) then became the lead singer. Abaddon again performed at the Jarocin Festival in 1984 and 1985. One of their songs, (''Kto''), which was recorded at the 1985 Festival, was featured on the Fala compilation LP.
