Jajah
Jajah was a VoIP (Voice over IP) provider, founded by Austrians Roman Scharf and Daniel Mattes in 2005. The Jajah headquarters was located in Mountain View, CA, USA, and Luxembourg. Jajah maintained a development centre in Israel. On 23 December 2009, it was announced that Jajah had been bought by Telefónica through its subsidiary Telefónica Europe. In December 2013, Telefónica announced that Jajah would shut down at the end of January 2014. Jajah's primary service, Jajah Web, took an approach called web-activated telephony, using VoIP to connect traditional phones (landline or mobile). Calls were made without download or user-installed software, and in most cases at rates lower than those of traditional phone companies or even free of charge. Daniel Mattes
Daniel Mattes (born 14 November 1972) is an Austrian internet entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is the founder and was CEO of Artificial Intelligence company 42.cx and a judge and business angel on the Austrian television show '2 Minuten 2 Millionen', the Austrian version of Shark Tank, which airs on Puls4. His 42.cx Center of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence focused on the commercialization of Artificial Intelligence ("AI"). The company was based in Vienna, Austria. It was incorporated in November 2015 and removed from the Austrian register of companies in 2022. Prior to 42.cx, in 2010, he founded Jumio, an online authentication company. Prior to Jumio, in 2005, he founded VoIP company Jajah which was acquired 2009 for $207 million by Telefónica. Ribbit was a telecommunications company based in Mountain View, California. It was acquired by BT Group on July 29, 2008 for $105 million. On August 10, 2011, Ribbit announced it was closing most of its external-facing operations and developer program within a couple of months.
