''Dom'' Álvaro married ''Dona'' Filipa de Melo, the rich daughter and heir of Rodrigo Afonso de Melo, 1st. Count of Olivença. The title was created on 26 April 1645 by King John IV of Portugal to his distant cousin, ''Dom'' Nuno Álvares Pereira de Melo (1638–1727), who was already 3rd Marquis of Ferreira and 5th Count of Tentúgal. The Most Serene House of Braganza ( pt, Sereníssima Casa de Bragança), also known as the Brigantine Dynasty (''Dinastia Brigantina''), is a dynasty of emperors, kings, princes, and dukes of Portuguese origin which reigned in Europe and the Americas. D. Jaime Álvares Pereira de Melo (1 September 1684 — 29 May 1749), 3rd Duke of Cadaval, 5th Marquis of Ferreira, and 6th Count of Tentúgal, was a Portuguese nobleman and statesman. Career The Duke was High-Equerry of the Royal Household of Pedro II of Portugal and subsequently that of João V of Portugal. In 1713, he became a Counselor of the State and War. Palace Of The Dukes Of Cadaval (Évora)
The Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval is located in Évora historic centre, in Portugal, next-door to the Lóios Convent and Church (today a remarkable ''Pousada'') and facing the Roman Temple of Évora. It belongs to the Duke of Cadaval family, and today it has a harmonious architectural elements combination: Moorish (Mudéjar), Gothic and Manueline period. The palace with its 17th-century façade is constituted in part by an old castle burnt in 1384. Today it is dominated by a tower called ''Tower of the Five Shields''. This palace was used by the governor of the city of Évora and served, from time to time, as royal residence. The first-floor rooms house a collection manuscripts, family portraits and religious art from the 16th century, which can be visited by the public. Dom Fernando II of Braganza (; 1430 – 20 June 1483) was the 3rd Duke of Braganza and the 1st Duke of Guimarães, among other titles. He is known for being executed for treason against the King. Early life Fernando II, born in 1430, was a successful young man and quickly grew popular amongst the Portuguese nobility. He was most appreciated by King Afonso V of Portugal, and always escorted the King on his different incursions into Morocco, where he participated in several conquests and expeditions.
