Jagdterrier
The Jagdterrier ( ) (English: Hunting Terrier) is a type of working terrier, originating in Germany, that is used for hunting quarry both above and underground. This breed of terrier is also called the German Hunt Terrier. Description Appearance A typical appearance of a Jagdterrier is black and tan, with the tan being more of a rust colour on the muzzle and undercarriage. It can also be chocolate or liver brown with white markings although the white markings and the chocolate colouring should be avoided in breeding programs along with a brown nose. Black and tan/rust markings should be the goal. The breed standard calls for an animal that stands at the shoulders, with females weighing from , and males weighing from . Working Terrier
A working terrier is a small type of dog which pursues its quarry into the earth. According to the ''Oxford English Dictionary'', the name dates back to at least 1440, derived from French ''chien terrier'' 'digging dog', which is from Medieval Latin ''terrarius'', ultimately from Latin ''terra'' (earth). With the growth of popularity of fox hunting in Britain in the 18th and 19th centuries, terriers were extensively bred to follow the red fox, as well as the Eurasian badger, into its burrow, referred to as "terrier work" and "going to ground". The purpose of the terrier is to locate the quarry, then either bark and bolt it free or to a net, or trap or hold it so that it can be dug down to and killed or captured. Fell terrier refers to a regional type of long-legged working terrier, not a specific breed of dog. Description and purpose Fell terriers are types of small working terriers developed in the Fell (hilly) country of northern England and used as hunting dogs. They may be crossbred or purebred. Fell terrier types are typically small, usually 10- 15 lbs/6.5 kg, and with a narrow chest, so as to fit into the tunnels of the animals they hunt. Crufts
Crufts is an international dog show held annually in the United Kingdom, first held in 1891. Organised and hosted by The Kennel Club, it is the largest show of its kind in the world. Crufts is centred on a championship conformation show for dogs, and includes a large trade show of mainly dog-related goods and services, as well as competitions in dog agility, Obedience training, obedience, flyball and heelwork to music. Winner of the annual Friends for Life competition which celebrates unsung canine heroes is also announced at Crufts and it hosts finals of Scruffts, a crossbreed competition. The Black and Tan Terrier was a broad breed or type of terrier that was one of the earliest terriers breeds.
