Rainer Simon (born 11 January 1941) is a German film director and screenwriter. He directed 17 films between 1964 and 2000. His '' How to Marry a King'' (1969) and ''Six Make it Through the World'' (1972) are highly imaginative adaptations of fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers. His 1975 ''Till Eulenspiegel'' is based on Renaissance stories, which Christa and Gerhard Wolf recast into a film narration incorporating period history. His 1985 film '' The Woman and the Stranger'' won the Golden Bear award at the 35th Berlin International Film Festival. His 1980 film ''Jadup and Boel'' entered into the 16th Moscow International Film Festival in 1989. Michael Gwisdek
Michael Gwisdek (14 January 1942 – 22 September 2020) was a German actor and film director. Career He began his acting career in East Germany and has appeared in more than 130 films and television shows since 1968. His debut film as a director, '' Treffen in Travers'', was the first East-German film screened at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section. His 1998 film ''The Big Mambo'' was entered into the 48th Berlin International Film Festival. The following year, he won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 49th Berlin International Film Festival, for his role in the film '' Nightshapes''. He married the actress Corinna Harfouch in 1985 and they divorced in 1997. They had two sons together before they married; the musician Johannes Gwisdek (born 1980) and the actor Robert Gwisdek (born 1984). East German Films
This is a list, in year order, of the most notable films produced in the Soviet Occupation Zone of Germany and the socialist German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) from 1945 until German Reunification in October 1990. The state owned East German film company DEFA produced about 800 feature films between 1946 and 1992. Besides DEFA, the state broadcaster DFF and the Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst (now the Filmuniversität Babelsberg) were the only other organizations in the GDR that produced feature films for cinematic release, although far fewer than DEFA. DEFA also produced about 750 animated movies and more than 2500 documentaries and short films. DEFA feature films are accessible and licensable as part of DEFA's entire film heritage on the PROGRESS archive platform. Heide (; Holsatian: ''Heid'') is a town in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the capital of the ''Kreis'' (district) Dithmarschen. Population: 21,000. The German word ''Heide'' means " heath". In the 15th century four adjoining villages decided to build a church in the "middle of the heath". This remained the town's name to date. The exact foundation date is now unknown, but by 1447 Heide was already the main village of Dithmarschen. At this time Dithmarschen was an independent peasant republic. Heide became a town in the 19th century. Heide has the largest un-built-upon market square in Germany, with 4.7 hectares. It is used primarily as a parking lot and has approximately 500 parking spaces. In 2016, the city staged 3 car-free Sundays on the market square for the first time.
