Jacob Van Zuylen Van Nijevelt
Jacob Pieter Pompejus, Baron van Zuylen van Nijevelt (29 June 1816 – 4 November 1890) was a Dutch politician who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands from 1852 to 1853, and again in 1861. During his second term as minister, he was also the chairman of the Council of Ministers, an office now known as Prime Minister. Later, he was representative of the Netherlands in Paris. Excellency
Excellency is an honorific style given to certain high-level officers of a sovereign state, officials of an international organization, or members of an aristocracy. Once entitled to the title "Excellency", the holder usually retains the right to that courtesy throughout their lifetime, although in some cases the title is attached to a particular office, and is held only for the duration of that office. Generally people addressed as ''Excellency'' are heads of state, heads of government, governors, ambassadors, Roman Catholic bishops and high-ranking ecclesiastics and others holding equivalent rank (e.g., heads of international organizations). Guillaume Groen van Prinsterer (21 August 1801 – 19 May 1876), was a Dutch politician and historian; he was born in Voorburg, near The Hague. Overview Groen is a Dutch historical icon. He was an educated and devout man of the Dutch middle class (his father, Petrus Jacobus Groen van Prinsterer, was a physician). Being a devout Christian, he never left the Dutch Reformed Church, the state church of the Netherlands and of its Royal Family, in spite of its sorry state, in his view. François de Casembroot (Liège, 26 July 1817 – The Hague, 14 April 1895) was an officer of the Royal Netherlands Navy. Casembroot was named Commander of the 16-gun warship ''Medusa'', which patrolled the Japanese coast from 1862 to 1864. On July 11, 1863, the ship was attacked in the Strait of Shimonoseki by the ships and the batteries of the ''daimyō'' of Chōshū, Mōri Takachika, who was following an Imperial "Order to expel barbarians" (攘夷実行の勅命 – ''Jōi jikkō no chokumei'').Polak, p.95 Casembroot managed to respond and escape, although with significant damage. Julius Van Zuylen Van Nijevelt
Julius Philip Jacob Adriaan, Count van Zuylen van Nijevelt (19 August 1819 – 1 July 1894) was a conservative Dutch politician. From 1855 till 1860 he served as Minister Resident in Istanbul, during which time he offered The Union Church of Istanbul to use the Dutch Chapel. Van Zuylen van Nijevelt served as Prime Minister of the Netherlands (chairman of the Council of Ministers) from 1866 to 1868. He also served as minister of Foreign Affairs from 1860 to 1861, and again from 1866 tot 1868. He married in Scotland and had three sons and two daughters. A member of the prominent Rotterdam patrician (''regenten'') family of Van Zuylen van Nijevelt, he was a son of Pieter Hendrik van Zuylen van Nijevelt, a Dutch general who was present at the Battle of Waterloo, among others.
