Jacob Plamondon
Jacob Plamondon (born November 6, 1998) is a Canadian professional gridiron football defensive lineman for the Edmonton Elks of the Canadian Football League (CFL). University career Plamondon played U Sports football for the Calgary Dinos from 2017 to 2021. He played in 27 games where he had 39 tackles and six sacks. In 2019, he was a member of the 55th Vanier Cup championship team. Professional career Plamondon was drafted in the second round, 19th overall, by the Edmonton Elks in the 2022 CFL Draft and signed with the team on May 11, 2022. He began the 2022 season on the suspended list, but made his debut in week 3 on June 25, 2022, against the Calgary Stampeders at McMahon Stadium, where he played for the Dinos. In gridiron football, a lineman is a player who specializes in play at the line of scrimmage. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. A number of NFL rules specifically address restrictions and requirements for the offensive line, whose job is to help protect the quarterback from getting sacked for a loss, or worse, fumbling. The 2023 Edmonton Elks season was the 65th season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 74th overall. After an 0–9 start to the season, the Elks were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention following their week 18 loss to the Toronto Argonauts. The team's 2023 season was the second under the second tenure of head coach and general manager, Chris Jones. The Elks struggled on the field and started the season 0–7 for the first time in franchise history. McMahon Stadium is a Canadian football stadium in Calgary, Alberta. The stadium is owned by the University of Calgary and operated by the McMahon Stadium Society. The stadium is between the downtown core and the University of Calgary, north of 16 Avenue NW between Crowchild Trail and University Drive. 2022 CFL Draft
The 2022 CFL National Draft was a selection of National players by Canadian Football League (CFL) teams that took place on May 3, 2022, at 8:00 pm ET and was broadcast on TSN and RDS. 74 players were chosen from among eligible players from Canadian Universities across the country, as well as Canadian players playing in the NCAA.
