The Jacksonville Jazz Festival is an annual Jazz Festival held in Jacksonville, Florida. Events MUSIC FESTIVAL: For more than 40 years, the Jacksonville Jazz Festival has brought music lovers together to enjoy an incredible weekend of food, drinks, community, and of course music! The Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition will kick off the festival on Thursday, followed by three days of live, free entertainment on multiple stages set in downtown Jacksonville, FL. JACKSONVILLE JAZZ PIANO COMPETITION: Performances are scheduled at the Florida Theatre and the outdoor stages in downtown Jacksonville. The festival kicks off at the Florida Theatre with the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. Originally known as The Great American Jazz Piano Competition, five finalists compete for cash prizes and a chance to perform on the festival's main stage. Douglas Anderson School Of The Arts
Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, commonly known as DA or DASOTA, is a magnet high school in the San Marco neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida, United States. The school opened in 1922 as a primary school specifically for African American students. The school is named after a local civil rights activist, Douglas Anderson. In 1985, the school was renovated into a magnet high school specializing in performing, visual and language arts. Awards Over the years, the school has accomplished many achievements including becoming a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and receiving awards from the United States Department of Education, International Network of Schools for the Advancement of Arts Education and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
