Progressive Jackpot
A progressive jackpot is a jackpot (a gambling grand prize or payout) which increases each time the game is played but the jackpot is ''not'' won. When the progressive jackpot is won, the jackpot for the next play is reset to a predetermined value, and resumes increasing under the same rule. Many slot machines and video poker machines feature a progressive jackpot. The jackpot increases by a small predetermined amount each time the game is played. Often multiple machines are pooled or linked together to form a larger progressive jackpot which grows more quickly because more non-winning plays can be counted toward it. Many lotteries feature progressive jackpots. After each drawing in which the jackpot is not won, a large amount of money is "carried forward" to the jackpot for next drawing. ''Jackpot!'' is a 1966 live album by Dave Brubeck, recorded at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas. It was released in 1968. Reception The initial ''Billboard'' magazine review from February 1968 wrote that "Brubeck is tagged in a live workout...and he comes out ahead all the way. His pianistics are as sharp as ever and so are his efficient aides...". It was released on July 15, 2003, by Capitol Records, The Trak Starz's Trak Starz imprint, and Ludacris's Disturbing Tha Peace. ''Jackpot'' is an American musical with music by Vernon Duke, lyrics by Howard Dietz, and a musical book by Guy Bolton, Sidney Sheldon, and Ben Roberts. The musical premiered on Broadway at the Alvin Theatre on January 13, 1944. It closed on March 11, 1944 after a total of 69 performances. Directed by Roy Hargrave, the production starred Nanette Fabray as Sally Madison, Betty Garrett as Sgt. Maguire, Allan Jones as Hank Trimble, and, in the small role of Edna, future novelist Jacqueline Susann ('' Valley of the Dolls''). Choreographer Flower Hujer danced in the production. Alan Hunter (25 June 1922 – 26 February 2005) was an English author of crime fiction, writing 46 novels featuring Inspector George Gently. Initially a farmer, he became an antiquarian bookseller before writing his first novel. Life Hunter was born at Hoveton, Norfolk and went to school across the River Bure in Wroxham. He left school at 14 and worked on his father's farm near Norwich. He enjoyed dinghy sailing on the Norfolk Broads, wrote natural history notes for the local newspaper, and wrote poetry, some of which was published while he was in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He married, in 1944, Adelaide Cubitt, who survived him with their daughter. After the war he managed the antiquarian books department of Charles Cubitt in Norwich. Four years later, in 1950, he established his own bookshop on Maddermarket in the city. Emily Atef (born 6 May 1973) is a German-French-Iranian director, screenwriter and producer based in Berlin. Early life At the age of 7, Atef moved from Berlin to Los Angeles with her French-Iranian parents and her brother the drummer Cyril Atef. She was 13 when they moved to France, where Atef finished school, and later she went to London to work as an actor in the London theater scene.
