Jackie Stewart
Sir John Young Stewart (born 11 June 1939), known as Jackie Stewart, is a British former Formula One racing driver from Scotland. Nicknamed the "Flying Scot", he competed in Formula One between 1965 and 1973, winning three World Drivers' Championships and twice finishing as runner-up over those nine seasons. Outside of Formula One, he narrowly missed out on a win at his first attempt at the Indianapolis 500 in 1966, and competed in the Can-Am series in 1970 and 1971. Between 1997 and 1999, in partnership with his son, Paul, he was team principal of the Stewart Grand Prix Formula One racing team. After retiring from racing, Stewart was an ABC network television sports commentator for both auto racing, covering the Indianapolis 500 for over a decade, and for several summer Olympics covering many events. John Gebbie Stewart (4 September 1921 – 17 May 1990) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an outside right for Raith Rovers and Birmingham City. A former miner born in Lochgelly, Fife, Stewart started his professional career at Raith Rovers, and moved to Birmingham City in January 1948. He had pace and a direct style, and in his first full season at the club, 1948–49, finished as leading goalscorer with 11 league goals for the newly promoted side struggling in the top flight. Injury disrupted his last couple of seasons at Birmingham, and he returned to Raith in 1955 having made 218 appearances in all competitions with 55 goals. He was appointed trainer at Raith and remained in football until 1963. Jackie Stewart was a Scottish football player and manager. Stewart played as a wing half for junior club Shettleston, then went senior with Dundee and Airdrie in the 1950s and 1960s. Stewart left Airdrie to become manager of Albion Rovers.http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/airdrie/airdrie.html He had his greatest success as manager of Dumbarton, taking them from relative obscurity to the quarter-final of the Scottish League Cup, and winning the Second Division of the Scottish Football League in the 1971–72 season. During the next season, he was recruited by St Johnstone to replace Willie Ormond, who had gone on to manage Scotland. St Johnstone struggled badly in the first season ( 1975–76) of the Premier Division under Stewart, and he left the club in February 1976.
