Jackie Shipp
Jackie Vernold Shipp (born March 19, 1962) is an American football coach and former player. Shipp was the defensive line coach for the Oklahoma Sooners football team until his departure in the 2013 offseason. He had been on the Sooners' coaching staff since the arrival of Bob Stoops in 1999. He was the defensive line coach at Arizona State from 2013-2015, and was the defensive line coach at the University of Missouri for part of the 2016 season. Shipp played high school football in Stillwater, Oklahoma where he was raised. He played college football at the University of Oklahoma. Shipp holds the all-time OU record for tackles in a single game with 22 and tackles in a single season with 189 (12 games). He is second in career tackles to Daryl Hunt. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Daryl Hunt
Daryl Lynn Hunt (November 3, 1956 – July 9, 2010) was a professional American football player, a linebacker for six seasons for the Houston Oilers appearing in 78 career regular season games after being selected by Houston during the 6th round of the 1979 NFL Draft. Early life Hunt was born in Odessa, Texas the son of educators Walter and Elayne Hunt. He was the first African-American to play football at Permian High School. College career Hunt played linebacker and remains the OU career record-holder for tackles with 530. Most forms of football have a move known as a tackle. The primary purposes of tackling are to dispossess an opponent of the ball, to stop the player from gaining ground towards goal or to stop them from carrying out what they intend. The word is used in some contact variations of football to describe the act of physically holding or wrestling a player to the ground. Bob Stoops
Robert Anthony Stoops (born September 9, 1960) is an American football coach. He was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1999 through the 2016 season, and on an interim basis during the 2021 Alamo Bowl. He led the Oklahoma Sooners to a record of 191–48 over his career. His 2000 Oklahoma Sooners football team won the 2001 Orange Bowl, which served as the BCS National Championship Game, and earned a consensus national championship. Since 2020, Stoops has been a head coach with the XFL, coaching the Arlington Renegades in 2020 and has been re-signed for 2023.
