Jack Wheeler (footballer, Born 1919)
William John Wheeler (13 July 1919 – 10 January 2009) was a professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Cheltenham Town, Birmingham City, Huddersfield Town and Kettering Town. He helped Huddersfield Town to promotion to the First Division, and played more than 150 matches in the Football League for the club. After his playing career finished, he spent more than 25 years with Notts County, in a variety of roles including coach, trainer, caretaker manager and scout. Personal Wheeler was born in North Littleton, near Evesham, Worcestershire. He died in Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham on 10 January 2009 at the age of 89. A minute's applause was observed before Notts County's League Two game with Exeter City later the same day. Clare Jack Wheeler (October 31, 1908 – February 26, 1990) was an American football player. He played in the backfield for the University of Michigan from 1928 to 1930 and was the Most Valuable Player on the 1930 Michigan Wolverines football team. Early life A native of Bay City, Michigan, Wheeler began to attain athletic prominence playing Halfback (American football), halfback and quarterback for the football team at Bay City Central High School from 1924 to 1926. College career After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Michigan and played on the freshman football team in 1927. As a sophomore in 1928, Wheeler started three games at the halfback position for Michigan's varsity football team. As a junior in 1929, he started two games at the fullback position. John Neville Wheeler
John Neville Wheeler (April 11, 1886 – October 13, 1973) was an American newspaperman, publishing executive, magazine editor, and writer. He was born in Yonkers, New York, graduated Columbia University (which holds a collection of his papers), was a veteran of World War I serving in France as a field artillery lieutenant, began his newspaper career at the ''New York Herald'', and became managing editor of ''Liberty''. He was married to Elizabeth T. Wheeler and had one daughter, the film editor Elizabeth Wheeler, who died in 1956. He is known primarily as the founder of several newspaper syndicates, of which the largest was the North American Newspaper Alliance (NANA), and through which he employed some of the most noted writing talents of his day. Wild Dog is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Wild Dog is the superhero identity of Jack Wheeler. He first appeared in ''Wild Dog'' #1 (September 1987), and was created by Max Allan Collins and Terry Beatty. A re-imagined version of the character, named Rene Ramirez, appeared in the Arrowverse series ''Arrow (TV series), Arrow'' starting in Arrow (season 5), season 5, where he was played by Rick Gonzalez.
