Jack Stewart (artist)
Jack Stewart (January 27, 1926 – March 4, 2005) was an American artist. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he began private art lessons when he was seven. When he was about nine he went to classes at the High Museum of Art. In his early to mid-teens he apprenticed to the sculptor/painter Steffen Thomas. During WWII he served in Patton's Third Army as a combat infantryman, entering combat in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he earned a BFA degree at Yale University, where he studied with Josef Albers and Willem de Kooning. He studied architecture at Columbia University and later earned MA and Ph.D. degrees at New York University. In 1976 Stewart married painter and art administrator Regina Serniak Stewart. His first wife and their son are deceased. Stewart moved to New York City in 1949. His first solo painting exhibit was in 1950 at the George Binet Gallery. John Sherratt "Black Jack" Stewart (May 6, 1917 – May 25, 1983) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who played 12 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Black Hawks. He won two Stanley Cup championships with the Red Wings and was named to the post-season NHL All-Star team on five occasions: three times on the first team and twice on the second. Stewart also played in the first four NHL All-Star Games. After completing his NHL career as captain of the Black Hawks, he went on to coach numerous teams at various levels of hockey. Stewart was regarded as the hardest hitting defenceman of his time, a reputation that earned him his nickname. His style of play routinely resulted in injuries and scars; he defied expectations by returning to the game after suffering a ruptured disc in his back and later a fractured skull. John Julius Thomas Stewart (6 January 1910 – 19 September 1972) was an Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1957 to 1972, representing the electorates of Kahibah (1957–71) and Charlestown (1971–72). Early life Stewart was born to parents Charles Thomas Stewart, a Caulker, and Mary Jane Sheen. Stewart jnr was educated at Wickham and Cooks Hill Boys' High School. He apprenticed to boilermaking at Walsh Island Government dockyard in Newcastle. After a long period of unemployment in the 1930s Great Depression, Stewart married Eileen Dorothy Chillinsworth on 4 December 1950 to whom they had one son. He was a Freemason. Jack McKay Stewart (15 April 1912 – 5 November 1998) was an Australian farmer and politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1968 to 1971, representing the seat of Merredin-Yilgarn. Stewart was born in Perth to Isabella (née Carmichael) and Alexander Stewart. He attended Scotch College, but left school at the age of 15 to help manage the family farm at Bruce Rock. Stewart took over the farm completely in 1939. Jack Stewart (born May 29, 1983, in Torrance, California) is an American soccer player who last played for Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League. Career High school Stewart attended South High School Torrance, CA, where he was a standout player voted to All-League and All-CIF awards. College and Amateur Stewart played college soccer at the University of Notre Dame, where he was named All-Big East his junior and senior seasons. He also played for Indiana Invaders in the USL Premier Development League. Professional Stewart was drafted tenth overall pick in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft by Chicago Fire, but he saw limited action with the team in his rookie season. He was traded to Real Salt Lake on July 25, 2006 in exchange for Ryan Johnson. He was waived by Salt Lake at the end of the 2007 season. Jack Stewart is an American politician who has served as the Oklahoma Senate member from the 18th district since November 16, 2022. Education and career Stewart graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
