Jack Prince (footballer)
Jack Prince (6 June 1906 – 13 October 1971) was an English Association football, football Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper who played for Nantwich Town F.C., Nantwich, Oldham Athletic A.F.C., Oldham Athletic, Port Vale F.C., Port Vale, Rochdale A.F.C., Rochdale, Wrexham A.F.C., Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town F.C., Shrewsbury Town, Northwich Victoria F.C., Northwich Victoria, and Crewe Alexandra F.C., Crewe Alexandra. He won the Football League Third Division North, Third Division North title with Port Vale in 1929–30. Career Prince played for Nantwich Town F.C., Nantwich and Oldham Athletic A.F.C., Oldham Athletic, before joining Port Vale F.C., Port Vale in May 1928. His debut came on Potteries derby day; a 2–1 defeat to Stoke City F.C., Stoke City at the Victoria Ground on 15 September 1928. Crewe
Crewe () is a railway town and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East in Cheshire, England. The Crewe built-up area had a total population of 75,556 in 2011, which also covers parts of the adjacent civil parishes of Willaston, Shavington cum Gresty and Wistaston. Crewe is perhaps best known as a large railway junction and home to Crewe Works; for many years, it was a major railway engineering facility for manufacturing and overhauling locomotives, but now much reduced in size. In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. The Old Recreation Ground
The Old Recreation Ground was a football stadium located in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England, and home to Port Vale F.C. from 1913 to 1950. It was the sixth ground the club used. Structure and facilities The stadium was in rather bad condition, especially following years of neglect during World War II. The dressing rooms were bare, there were no toilet facilities throughout the entire ground, and racing pigeons were kept by '' The Sentinel'' and a number of supporters so as to relay the scoreline to different parts of the city. History Port Vale F.C. opened the ground in 1913, and six years later were admitted into the English Football League. The visit of Potteries derby rivals Stoke on 6 March 1920 saw a crowd of 22,697 turn up to see an away victory.
