Jack Murphy (born July 25, 1979) is an American college basketball coach currently the associate head coach for the Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-12 Conference. Previously, he had been an assistant at University of Memphis. Prior to serving on the Memphis staff, Murphy was an advance scout and video coordinator for the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, Murphy served in several roles at Arizona from 1998 to 2006, beginning as a student manager and eventually moving to recruiting coordinator, video analyst, and director of operations. During this time, he worked with former Memphis head coach Josh Pastner on the staff of Hall of Fame coach Lute Olson. In Murphy's time at Arizona, the Wildcats made eight straight NCAA tournament appearances, reaching the national championship game in 2001. Jack Roland Murphy (May 26, 1937 – September 12, 2020), known as "Murph the Surf" or "Murf the Surf", was convicted of murder in 1969. He was also involved in the biggest jewel heist in American history, the 1964 burglary of the jewel collection of New York's American Museum of Natural History. Murphy is also known for being a surfing champion, musician, author, and artist. He was released from prison in 1986. He spent his latter years as an ordained minister, working with inmates in the field of prison ministry. Early life Murphy was born in Oceanside, California. Jack Murphy (born in Boston, Massachusetts) is a professional lacrosse player with the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse. He was the 2015 ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year while playing for Fairfield University. High school Murphy attended Cohasset High School where earned four varsity letters. He earned US Lacrosse All-America accolades during his senior season after stopping 248 shots and posting a 4.04 goals against average (GAA). College Murphy initially attended Mass Maritime where he started 15 times as freshman, earned Second-Team All-Pilgrim League honors, and was named NCAA Academic All-America. He stopped over 57 percent of the shots he faced and posted an 11.09 GAA for the season. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays played in their minor league affiliate system from 2009 to 2015. San Diego Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium on the west coast of the United States, in San Diego, California. The stadium opened in 1967 as San Diego Stadium and was known as Jack Murphy Stadium from 1981 to 1997. From 1997 to 2017, the stadium's naming rights were owned by San Diego-based telecommunications equipment company Qualcomm, and the stadium was known as Qualcomm Stadium or simply The Q.
