Jack Michaels
Jack Michaels (born January 23, 1974) is an American ice hockey Sports commentator, announcer who is currently the play-by-play announcer for Edmonton Oilers broadcasts on CHED (AM), 630 CHED and Sportsnet television. He was previously the announcer for the Colorado Gold Kings of the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) from 1999 to 2002, and the Alaska Aces (ECHL), Alaska Aces of the ECHL from 2002 to 2010. Born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, Michaels attended Ithaca College in New York, where he did his first work in sports broadcasting. After graduating in 1995, Michaels returned to Meadville and worked as a sports announcer for WMGW, WMGW-AM. In 1999, he decided to focus on hockey full-time and joined the Colorado Gold Kings of the WCHL as a play-by-play announcer. Meadville, Pennsylvania
Meadville is a city in and the county seat of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The city is within of Erie and within of Pittsburgh. It was the first permanent settlement in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. WICB (91.7 FM) is a radio station licensed to serve Ithaca, New York, United States. Established in 1947, the station is owned by Ithaca College. WICB broadcasts an alternative music format to the greater Ithaca area. Along with alternative music, the student-run radio station reserves programming for several different formats—including jazz, reggae, urban/hip-hop, sports, news, and more. Dave Johnson (born May 25, 1941) is an American announcer and sportscaster, best known for his work in horse racing with ABC and NBC Sports and at various race tracks in New York and New Jersey. His signature line — "And ''down'' the stretch they come!" — is instantly recognizable throughout the sport, and is often imitated by comedians, notably David Letterman. From 1972 to 1977, Johnson was the public address announcer for the tracks of the New York Racing Association. In 1977 he moved to the new Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey, calling both Thoroughbred and harness racing. He maintained his Meadowlands schedule into the early 21st century. Mike Lange
Mike Lange (born March 3, 1948) is a retired American sportscaster, best known for his long career as a play-by-play announcer for Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. In 2001, he received the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award for his outstanding work as an NHL broadcaster. Career In 1969, while attending Sacramento State University, Lange was encouraged by his friend to attend a hockey game. At the time, Lange had never attended a hockey game before. From there, Lange worked in the penalty box at local arenas, coordinating the penalty time with the PA announcer. He eventually replaced the PA announcer after he asked for a raise and his play-by-play was broadcast over the college radio station. The 1984 NHL Entry Draft was the 22nd NHL Entry Draft. It took place on June 9, 1984, at the Montreal Forum in Montreal, Quebec. The 1984 Entry Draft is noted for the unusually high number of future Hall of Famers picked, particularly in lower rounds. Mario Lemieux
Mario Lemieux (; ; born October 5, 1965) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player.
