Jack Maguire (golfer)
Jack Maguire (born July 6, 1994) is an American professional golfer. Maguire played college golf at Florida State University, where he won two events in his freshman year. His 70.78 scoring average is the lowest in Seminoles program history. Maguire also holds the record for lowest round in Florida State history with a 10 under 62 at the USF Invitational. Maguire qualified for the 2015 U.S. Open by earning medalist honors at sectional qualifying in Jupiter, Florida along with Luke Donald and Andy Pope. He finished tied for 58th at the tournament. Maguire made his professional debut at the 2016 Phoenix Open. He missed the cut, despite making a hole-in-one on TPC Scottsdale's 12th hole during his second round. He played the rest of 2016 on the Web.com Tour, finishing 47th, which allowed him to retain full Web.com Tour status for 2017. The 2015 Palmer Cup was held on June 12–14, 2015 at Rich Harvest Farms in Big Rock Township, Illinois. The United States won 18 to 12. Format On Friday, there were five matches of foursomes in the morning, followed by five four-ball matches in the afternoon. Ten singles matches were played on Saturday, and ten more on Sunday. In all, 30 matches were played. Each of the 30 matches was worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match was all square after the 18th hole, each side earned half a point toward their team total. The team that accumulated at least 15½ points won the competition. The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition for college/university golfers. From 2018 it has been contested between a United States team and an International team representing the rest of the world. The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women. The teams are selected on the basis of nationality, not according to the location of the players' universities. The 2023 event will be held from June 10 to 12 at Laurel Valley Golf Club, near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. History From its foundation in 1997 until 2017 the event was only contested by men. A professional golfer is somebody who receives payments or financial rewards in the sport of golf that are directly related to their skill or reputation. A person who earns money by teaching or playing golf is traditionally considered a "golf pro," most of whom are teachers/coaches. The professional golfer status is reserved for people who play, rather than teach, golf for a career. In golf, the distinction between amateurs and professionals is rigorously maintained. TPC Scottsdale
TPC Scottsdale is a 36-hole golf complex in the southwestern United States, located in Scottsdale, Arizona, northeast of Phoenix. Opened in 1986, the resort is part of the Tournament Players Club network of golf courses operated by the PGA Tour. The Stadium Course has been home to the tour's annual Phoenix Open since 1987. Stadium Course Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish were commissioned by the PGA Tour to build a course to host the Phoenix Open starting in 1987.
