Jack Gordon (footballer, Born 1899)
John Gordon (11 April 1899 – 11 April 1964) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside-right for Queen's Park, Port Vale, Greenock Morton, Luton Town, and Dunfermline Athletic. Career Gordon played for Queen's Park, before joining Port Vale of the Second Division in August 1922. He scored his first goal at The Old Recreation Ground on 4 September, in a 1–0 win over Hull City. He went on to find the net in home wins over Clapton Orient and Bury. He was a first team regular until falling out of favour in December 1922. After 24 league and cup appearances, he was released at the end of 1922–23 season. He later played for Greenock Morton Greenock Morton Football Club is a Scottish professional football club, which plays in the Scottish Championship. Kirkcudbright ( ; sco, Kirkcoubrie; gd, Cille Chùithbeirt) is a town, parish and a Royal Burgh from 1455 in Kirkcudbrightshire, of which it is traditionally the county town, within Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The town lies southwest of Castle Douglas and Dalbeattie at the mouth of the River Dee, around from the Irish Sea. Football League Third Division South
The Third Division South of The Football League was a tier in the English football league system from 1921 to 1958. It ran in parallel with the Third Division North with clubs elected to the League or relegated from Division Two allocated to one or the other according to geographical position. Some clubs in the English Midlands shuttled between the Third Division South and the Third Division North according to the composition of the two leagues in any one season. This division was created in 1921 from the Third Division, formed one year earlier when the Football League absorbed the leading clubs from the Southern League.
