Jack Faust (attorney)
John R. "Jack" Faust (born June 16, 1932) is a retired Portland, Oregon, attorney, television personality and political activist. Early life Education Faust graduated from Jefferson High School in Portland, Oregon in 1949, the University of Oregon in 1953, and graduated first in his class at the University of Oregon Law School in 1958. At law school he was Editor-in-chief of the law review and received the Order of the Coif and the Phi Delta Phi Award for Outstanding Graduate Pacific Northwest. Military service Served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 as a Special Agent in the 441st Counterintelligence Corps detachment, Far East Command. Career Attorney A well-known Oregon lawyer, he practiced with Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt of Portland and retired 2007. His practice consisted of corporate, appellate and general law. ''Portland Monthly'' (also referred to as ''Portland Monthly Magazine'') is a monthly news and general interest magazine which covers food, politics, business, design, events and culture in Portland, Oregon. The magazine was co-founded in 2003 by siblings Nicole and Scott Vogel. Nicole had previously worked for Cendant Corporation and Time Warner, and Scott had been a journalist at ''The New York Times''. Though the magazine had some trouble with funding in its first year, it grew to a stable circulation of 56,000 and by 2006 was the seventh-largest city magazine in the United States. Arlington Club
The Arlington Club is a private social club organized in 1867 by 35 business and banking leaders of Portland in the US state of Oregon. First called the Social Club and later renamed the Arlington Club, it offered its all-male members, most of whom were relatively wealthy and powerful, an exclusive place to socialize and discuss their interests. During its first century, a total of more than 3,300 men were club members at one time or another. Many, in addition to pursuing their livelihoods, were officers in civic, cultural, philanthropic, or social organizations, and some held government posts at the local, state, or federal levels. Campfire Girls
Camp Fire, formerly Camp Fire USA and originally Camp Fire Girls of America, is a co-ed youth development organization. Camp Fire was the first nonsectarian, multicultural organization for girls in America. It is gender inclusive, and its programs emphasize camping and other outdoor activities. Its informal roots extend back to 1910, with efforts by Mrs. Charles Farnsworth in Thetford, Vermont and Luther Gulick, M.D., and his wife, Charlotte Vedder Gulick, on Sebago Lake, near South Casco, Maine. Camp Fire Girls, as it was known at the time, was created as the sister organization to the Boy Scouts of America. Portland Opera is an American opera company based at The Hampton Opera Center in Portland, Oregon. Its performances take place in the Keller Auditorium and Newmark Theatre, both part of the Portland Center for the Performing Arts. Portland Opera also produces a separate subscription series of touring Broadway musicals, which also take place at the Keller Auditorium.
