Jack Evans (footballer, Born 1889)
John Hugh Evans (31 January 1889 – 1971) was a Welsh professional footballer. He spent the majority of his career with Cardiff City, making over 350 appearances in all competitions and playing in the club's first seasons in the Football League. He also played for the Wales national football team, winning 8 caps. Career Evans was born in Bala. As a youngster he worked as an apprentice printer while playing for local side Bala Wanderers, despite his three older brothers playing for Bala Press. He joined Wrexham in 1908 but sustained a serious shoulder injury and was told he may never play football again. He decided to move to South Wales to continue his work as an apprentice printer and began playing for Cwmparc and was spotted by Cardiff City, becoming the first player to be officially bought by the team when he signed for six shillings. Jack Evans (born March 3, 1953, Anamosa, Iowa) is an American musician and songwriter. Evans, a 1978 graduate of Boston's Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music Composition Degree, went on to form the award-winning band Reverend Zen. The New York band's first album was ''Angels, Blues, and the Crying Moon'' on Blakjak Music Records, Anamosa Songs ASCAP c2006. The group's ten song video collection entitled Reverend Zen The Videos was released in 2015 in association with Blakjak Music Records, Anamosa Songs ASCAP c2015. Jack Wilson Evans (August 13, 1922 – June 5, 1997) was an American grocer and politician who served as mayor of Dallas, Texas. Biography Working from his youth in grocery stores in Dallas, Jack Evans joined the Army Air Corps in 1944. Upon returning to Dallas in 1947, he began Evans Lakewood Food Mart at the site of a previously closed Safeway store. He joined Cullum Companies, which operated several grocery brands including Tom Thumb stores (now a part of Safeway) in Dallas, in 1966 and eventually became the chairman and CEO of the company in 1986. Evans went to college at Southern Methodist University. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School (Dallas) in 1940. William John Trevor "Jack" Evans (April 21, 1928 – November 10, 1996) was a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman and coach who played 14 seasons in the National Hockey League for the New York Rangers and Chicago Black Hawks. Early life Evans was born in Morriston, Wales, but emigrated with his parents to Drumheller, Alberta in his youth.
