Jack Currie (English Footballer)
Jack Currie (born 16 December 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Oxford United. Early life Currie attended the St Lawrence Junior School in East Molesey, before going to Esher High School. He joined the Wimbledon academy when he was 11 years old. He signed his first professional contract with Wimbledon in September 2020. Career AFC Wimbledon Non-League loans In February 2021 Currie joined Maidstone United on a 6-month loan, however the 2020–21 season for Maidstone was curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Having also spent time on loan at Leatherhead, the following season he joined Eastbourne Borough of the National League South on loan in July 2021. John Anthony Logan Currie, (7 December 1921 – 19 October 1996) was an officer in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and an author. After serving during the Second World War, he stayed on in the RAF and attained the rank of squadron leader. After he left the service he wrote a number of books on the RAF, three of which described his own experiences as a bomber pilot. His books portray life as it was in RAF Bomber Command during the course of the Second World War. Currie served as narrator in three BBC documentaries on the air war over Europe. Early life Currie was born in Sheffield, the son of John Alban William Currie and Margaret Ulph Ward-Smith. While he was still a young child the family moved to Harrow, London. Currie was taken to air shows, where he became fascinated with aeroplanes. After leaving school he worked a variety of jobs, including cartoonist for the Harrow Observer. John Allister "Jack" Currie (February 25, 1868 June 28, 1931) was an Ontario author, journalist and political figure. Early life He was born in Nottawa, Ontario in 1862, and was educated at Collingwood Collegiate Institute. After an apprenticeship in the hardware trade, he was hired by the '' Toronto News'', and subsequently became a reporter at the '' Mail and Empire''. Around 1900, following a visit to Rossland, British Columbia, he became a mining broker. Military service He was one of the four founding captains of the 48th Highlanders of Canada, which served in South Africa during the Second Boer War, and rose to become its commanding officer. At the beginning of World War I, he offered the Canadian Expeditionary Force the entire regiment, and the offer was accepted.
