Jack Cross
''Jack Cross'' was a comic book series written by Warren Ellis and drawn by Gary Erskine. It was first published by DC Comics in 2005 in comics, 2005. Plot The title character is a ''gun-for-hire'' freelance anti-terrorist, who is brought in when things go horribly wrong, and who uses extremely violent methods to achieve his goals. However, he is also an active social liberal who takes part in anti-war demonstrations, and is internally conflicted about the measures he has to take. Publication history Originally solicited as an ongoing series, Jack Cross stalled after the first story arc of four issues. Although a mention of a further eight finished scripts (and plots for twelve more issues) was posted on various forums the scripts were incomplete (requiring further dialoguing), the book was placed on hiatus after the fourth issue. Warren Ellis
Warren Girard Ellis (born 16 February 1968) is a British comic book writer, novelist, and screenwriter. He is best known as the co-creator of several original comics series, including ''Transmetropolitan'' (1997–2002), ''Global Frequency'' (2002–2004) and '' Red'' (2003–2004), which was adapted into the feature films '' Red'' (2010) and '' Red 2'' (2013). Ellis is the author of the novels ''Crooked Little Vein'' (2007) and ''Gun Machine'' (2013) and the novella ''Normal'' (2016). Gary Erskine
Gary Erskine is a Scottish comic book artist. Career Born in Paisley near Glasgow in 1968, Erskine grew up in Rutherglen and attended Burnside Primary and Stonelaw High School. Fellow comic artist Frank Quitely (Vincent Deighan) is the same age and from the same town, but they attended different schools and did not work together in their youth. He started drawing work for fanzines while at art college and aspired to be a comic book artist. After sending samples of his work to Marvel UK he was eventually given ''Knights of Pendragon'' to draw on a regular basis in 1988. Erskine's work proved to be popular and he also drew '' Warheads'' for Marvel UK. Erskine then expanded his work into '' 2000 AD'', drawing a Judge Dredd story written by Garth Ennis. A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative.
