Jack Carney (footballer)
John Richard William Carney (22 January 1909 – 31 October 1981) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1930s. Beeac, Victoria
Beeac is a town in the Western District of Victoria, Australia. The town is located on the shore of the hyper-saline Lake Beeac in the Colac Otway Shire local government area, 160 kilometres southwest of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2016 census, Beeac had a population of 370. History Beeac was originally created as a reserve for campers, and the name is thought to mean either "salt lake" or "grubs" in the local Aboriginal language. From 1860, the area was opened for selection and a townsite was surveyed in 1864. A Post Office opened on 1 January 1862 but was known as Ondit (the name of the surrounding parish) until 1872. The original Post Office building was destroyed by fire in 1926, but was eventually replaced by the current building. 1941 VFL Season
The 1941 VFL season was the 45th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 26 April until 27 September, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Melbourne Football Club for the fifth time and third time consecutively, after it defeated by 29 points in the 1941 VFL Grand Final. Premiership season In 1941, the VFL competition consisted of twelve teams of 18 on-the-field players each, plus one substitute player, known as the 19th man. The Victoria Australian rules football team, known colloquially as the Big V, is the state representative side of Victoria, Australia, in the sport of Australian rules football. The Colac Tigers Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Tigers'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the regional city of Colac, Victoria. The 1938 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Carlton Football Club and Collingwood Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 24 September 1938. It was the 40th annual Grand Final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1938 VFL season. The match was won by Carlton by a margin of 15 points, marking that club's sixth premiership victory and first since winning the 1915 VFL Grand Final. This Grand Final was attended by 96,486 spectators, setting a new record as the largest crowd to have witnessed a premiership decider in VFL Grand Final history, and breaking the previous year's record by eight thousand.
