Jack Asher
Jack Asher British Society of Cinematographers, B.S.C. (29 March 1916, London – 1991) was an England, English cinematographer. His brother Robert Asher (director), Robert Asher was a film and TV director with whom he worked on several occasions. He began his cinematic career as a camera operator, and made his first film as cinematographer or "lighting cameraman" on ''The Magic Bow'' (1946). Asher is best remembered for his work on Hammer Film Productions, Hammer films, beginning with ''The Curse of Frankenstein'' (1957), the first of Hammer's gothic horrors, and the earliest colour version of the Frankenstein story. The Mummy (1959 Film)
''The Mummy'' is a 1959 British horror film, directed by Terence Fisher and starring Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. It was written by Jimmy Sangster and produced by Michael Carreras and Anthony Nelson Keys for Hammer Film Productions. The film was distributed in the U.S. in 1959 on a double bill with either the Vincent Price film '' The Bat'' or the Universal film ''Curse of the Undead''. Though the title suggests Universal Pictures' 1932 film of the same name, the film actually derives its plot and characters entirely from two 1940s Universal films, ''The Mummy's Hand'' and ''The Mummy's Tomb'', with the climax borrowed directly from ''The Mummy's Ghost''. ''Reach for the Sky'' is a 1956 British biographical film about aviator Douglas Bader, based on the 1954 biography of the same name by Paul Brickhill. The film stars Kenneth More and was directed by Lewis Gilbert. It won the BAFTA Award for Best British Film of 1956. The film's composer John Addison was Bader's brother-in-law. Arthur Grant B.S.C. (1915–1972) was a British cinematographer. He succeeded Jack Asher as regular Director of Photography for Hammer Film Productions. Terence Fisher
Terence Fisher (23 February 1904 – 18 June 1980) was a British film director best known for his work for Hammer Films. He was the first to bring gothic horror alive in full colour, and the sexual overtones and explicit horror in his films, while mild by modern standards, were unprecedented in his day. His first major gothic horror film was ''The Curse of Frankenstein'' (1957), which launched Hammer's association with the genre and made British actors Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee leading horror stars of the era. He went on to film several adaptations of classic horror subjects, including '' Dracula'' (1958), ''The Mummy'' (1959), and ''The Curse of the Werewolf'' (1961). Given their subject matter and lurid approach, Fisher's films, though commercially successful, were largely dismissed by critics during his career. ''The Camp on Blood Island'' is a 1958 British World War II film, directed by Val Guest for Hammer Film Productions and starring André Morell, Carl Möhner, Edward Underdown and Walter Fitzgerald. The film is set in a Japanese prisoner of war camp in Japanese-occupied British Malaya and deals with the brutal, sadistic treatment of Allied prisoners by their captors. On its release, the film was promoted with the tag line "Jap War Crimes Exposed!", alongside a quote from Lord Russell of Liverpool, "We may forgive, but we must never forget", and an image of a Japanese soldier wielding a samurai sword. ''The Brides of Dracula'' is a 1960 British supernatural horror film produced by Hammer Film Productions. Directed by Terence Fisher, the film stars Peter Cushing, David Peel, Freda Jackson, Yvonne Monlaur, Andrée Melly, and Martita Hunt.
