Jack Albright
Harold John "Jack" Albright (June 30, 1921 – June 22, 1991) was a Major League Baseball player. Albright played for the Philadelphia Phillies in the season. He batted and threw right-handed. In 41 games, Albright had 23 hits in 99 at-bats, he also had two home runs and eight errors at shortstop. Biography Albright was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. He went to high school in San Diego, where he also played on a national champion American Legion team. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, and he played shortstop on the baseball team. While at Cal, Albright was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. Professional baseball scouts took an interest in Albright as soon as 1941, his sophomore year at Cal. Shortstop
Shortstop, abbreviated SS, is the baseball or softball fielding position between second and third base, which is considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Historically the position was assigned to defensive specialists who were typically poor at batting and were often placed at the bottom of the batting order. Today, shortstops are often able to hit well and many are placed at the top of the lineup. In the numbering system used by scorers to record defensive plays, the shortstop is assigned the number 6. The Louisville Colonels were a Minor League Baseball team that played in Louisville, Kentucky, from 1901 to 1962 and 1968 to 1972. The name, like that of the 19th century Major League team of that name, is derived from the historic Kentucky colonels. USS ''Bebas'' (DE-10) was an ''Evarts''-class destroyer escort in the service of the United States Navy from 1943 to 1945. Namesake Gus George Bebas was born on 24 February 1914 in Chicago, Illinois. He received his commission as an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve on 26 May 1938. Bebas attended the Northwestern University School of Engineering, earning a B.S. degree in commerce in 1939. While at Northwestern, Bebas served in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps at that institution, and trained on board heavy cruiser between 16 and 30 June 1939. His commission as an ensign terminated under honorable conditions on 22 January 1940, Bebas enlisted the following day as a seaman second class.
