Jaciobá Atlético Clube is a Brazilian professional football club based in Pão de Açúcar, Alagoas. It competes in the Campeonato Alagoano, the top flight of the Alagoas state football league. History Founded in 1964, the club first reached the first division of the Campeonato Alagoano in 1999, after finishing second in the previous year's second division. After finishing seventh and being relegated, the club went into amateur state and changed name to Jacyobá Atlético Clube. In June 2018, the club was again active when it submitted its registration to play in the season's second division. Jacyobá then won the 2018 second division on the goal difference rule, returning to the top tier after 20 years. In the 2019 Alagoano, the club finished fourth and qualified for the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D. The ''sertão'' (, plural ''sertões'') is the "hinterland" or "backcountry". In Brazil, it refers both to one of the four sub-regions of the Northeast Region of Brazil (similar to the specific association of "outback" with Australia in English) or the hinterlands of the country in general. Northeast Brazil is largely covered in a scrubby upland forest called a '' caatingas.'' Its borders are not precise. The Campeonato Alagoano is the football league of the state of Alagoas, Brazil. Format 2020 First Division The Campeonato Alagoano is divided into three stages. *First stage: simple round-robin, in which all eight teams play each other once. 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the fourth division. The competition was originally scheduled to begin on 3 May and end on 22 November, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled for 6 September 2020 – 6 February 2021. Sixty-eight teams competed in the tournament. Sixty-four teams qualified from their state leagues and cups, and four relegated from the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C ( ABC, Atlético Acreano, Globo and Luverdense). Luverdense declined to participate being replaced by Sinop. The match Guarany de Sobral v Salgueiro, scheduled for 20 September 2020 (Group A3 1st round), was postponed after 12 Guarany de Sobral players tested positive for COVID-19. In the Group A8 12th round, (14 November 2020), São Caetano players refused to play their away match against Marcílio Dias in protest over unpaid wages.
