Jablanica (mountain)
Jablanica ( sq, Jabllanica or Jabllanicë ; mk, Јабланица ) is a mountain range in Southern and Southeastern Europe, stretching north–south direction across the border of Albania and North Macedonia. Geography The long mountain ridge is higher than for approximately , while the highest part, located in its very center, is Black Stone at high. Both countries have 50% of the mountain, Albania the west and North Macedonia the east. Jablanica Mountain contains many large mountain lakes. Shebenik mountain is located just to the west of Jablanica and give name to the Shebenik-Jabllanice National Park. The closest towns to Jablanica are Librazhd in Albania and Struga in North Macedonia. The mountain range is one of the few places in the Balkans that hold the Balkan lynx (''Lynx lynx martinoi''), a subspecies of the Eurasian lynx (''Lynx lynx''). Gorna Belica
Gorna Belica ( mk, Горна Белица; rup, Beala di Suprã/Beala di Supra; sq, Belicë e Sipërme) is a village in the municipality of Struga, North Macedonia. The village is located close to the Albania-North Macedonia border. History Gorna Belica was founded on the unseen slopes of Mount Jablanica by Aromanians from the villages of Niçë and Llëngë, fleeing the 18th century socio-political and economic crises in what is now southern Albania. Close family relations were maintained through intermarriage between Aromanians from Gorna Belica and those of Niçë and Llëngë. In the nineteenth century, other Aromanian groups like the Arvanitovlachs attempted to settle in Gorna Belica which caused friction with older Aromanian inhabitants but were allowed to do so later after negotiations. Balkan Lynx
The Balkan lynx (''Lynx lynx balcanicus'') is a subspecies of the Eurasian lynx in the genus ''Lynx''. It is found in Albania, Kosovo, eastern Serbia, and western North Macedonia, with smaller populations in Montenegro. It is considered a national symbol in North Macedonia and appears on the 5-Macedonian denar, denar coin. It is believed that in North Macedonia there are from 35 to 40 remaining Balkan lynx, mostly found in Mavrovo National Park. This cat is considered to be the largest cat in the Balkans. It has been sighted in 2011 and 2012 in the northern mountainous region of Albania and within the boundaries of the Shebenik-Jabllanice National Park. The lynx is classified as Critically Endangered in Albania and has been protected de jure since 1969 but, despite this, illegal poaching and habitat destruction threatens the remaining Balkan lynx populations in both Albania and North Macedonia. Struga ( mk, Струга , sq, Strugë) is a town and popular tourist destination situated in the south-western region of North Macedonia, lying on the shore of Lake Ohrid. The town of Struga is the seat of Struga Municipality. Name The name Struga was first mentioned in the 11th century. It is of Slavic origin. and means a "river bed". Shebenik
Shebenik is a large mountain located in the Shebenik-Jabllanice National Park in eastern Albania. Shebenik has many peaks over . Geography The highest is Maja e Shebenikut at above sea level. It is found in the north-east of Shebenik. Around this peak are a number of small and large mountain lakes. Shebenik mountain is located west of Jablanica Mountain and northwest of Lake Ohrid.
