Jabari Montsho Smith Sr. (born February 12, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player who played four seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Professional career After a college career at Louisiana State University, he was selected by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the 2000 NBA draft. He has played for the Kings, the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Nets over a span of 5 years, for a total of 108 games and averages of 3 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. His final NBA game was played in Game 4 of the 2005 Eastern Conference First Round on May 1, 2005, against the Miami Heat. In that game, Smith only played for 44 seconds (substituting at the very end of the 4th quarter for Vince Carter) and recorded no stats. The Nets would lose the game and get swept by Miami. The 2004–05 New Jersey Nets season was the Nets' 38th season in the National Basketball Association, and 29th season in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Without Kenyon Martin, who was traded to the Denver Nuggets in the offseason, the Nets stumbled out of the gate losing 11 of their first 13 games including a nine-game losing streak, as Jason Kidd missed the first month of the season from offseason knee surgery. The 2003–04 NBA season was the Kings' 55th season in the National Basketball Association, and their 19th season in Sacramento. The season was best remembered for the team making a move in the offseason, acquiring Brad Miller from the Indiana Pacers and signing free agent Anthony Peeler. Superstar forward Chris Webber, who spent most of the season recovering from microfracture knee surgery, then serving a suspension due to the Ed Martin scandal, returned for the final 23 games of the season in which they played mediocre basketball the rest of the way. The 2002–03 NBA season was the Kings' 54th season in the National Basketball Association, and 18th season in Sacramento. The Kings were coming off their controversial Western Conference Finals defeat to the Los Angeles Lakers, who won the series in seven games. During the off-season, the Kings signed free agent Keon Clark, and later on in December signed Jim Jackson. Throughout the season, none of the Kings' players played a full season via suspension or injury, but they still managed to hold a successful 34–17 record at the All-Star break, and post a 59–23 record, two games less than their previous output in which they went 61–21, thus repeating as Pacific Division Champions once again. The 2001–02 NBA season was the Kings' 53rd season in the National Basketball Association, and 17th season in Sacramento. During the off-season, the Kings acquired Mike Bibby from the Vancouver Grizzlies, who had just relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. Despite Chris Webber missing the first 20 games due to a preseason ankle injury, the Kings won 17 of their first 22 games, then posted a 12-game winning streak between December and January, as they held a 37–12 record before the All-Star break.
