JP Cooney
JP Cooney (born 12 May 1990) is a rugby union player from Ireland. His primary position is as a prop, and he can play on either side of the scrum. Cooney currently plays for Irish provincial side Connacht Rugby in the Pro14. He joined Connacht in 2012 from All-Ireland League club Garryowen. Career Amateur career Originally from Littleton in Tipperary, Cooney first played rugby for the local club Thurles RFC and attended the Thurles Christian Brothers School. He received his third level education in the University of Limerick. At under-age level, Cooney was involved with the academy of his native province of Munster and played for provincial teams at under-18, under-19 and under-20 levels. Prior to joining Connacht, Cooney played for Garryowen in Limerick, and was part of the team that won the Bateman Cup. Connacht Cooney joined Connacht for the 2012–13 season. British And Irish Cup
The British and Irish Cup was an annual rugby union competition for second tier, semi-professional clubs and the reserves or developing teams from professional clubs from Great Britain and Ireland. It took place for the first time in the 2009–10 season, and ran for 9 seasons. After clubs from the English Championship decided to withdraw from the 2018-19 season, the competition was abolished. The Welsh and Irish rugby unions thereafter reinstituted the Celtic Cup competition for its development sides. Leinster A and Munster A were the most successful sides in the competition, winning the trophy twice each. Five English clubs shared the remaining competition wins. Format A total of twenty-four teams from England (twelve), Ireland (three), Scotland (three) and Wales (six) competed in the inaugural competition. Connacht ( ; ga, Connachta or ), is one of the provinces of Ireland, in the west of Ireland.
