Júlio Bressane
Júlio Eduardo Bressane de Azevedo (born February 13, 1946) is a Brazilian filmmaker and writer. Biography A representative of the Brazilian '' cinema marginal'', Julio Bressane began making films as an assistant director of Walter Lima Jr., in 1965. In 1967 Bressane debuted as director with ''Face to Face'', being selected for the Festival of Brasilia. In 1970 he founded ''Belair Movies'' in company with fellow filmmaker Rogério Sganzerla. They chose a model of making films and low-cost production and thereby managed to run six feature films in just six months. He came into exile in London in the early 1970s, but returned to Brazil several years later and made one film after another, using slapstick and debauchery as its main features. An acclaimed film of this period was the provocative ''Tabu'', released in 1982. Mário Reis (singer)
Mário da Silveira Meireles Reis (31 December 1907 – 5 October 1981 in Rio de Janeiro), also known as Bacharel do Samba was a popular Brazilian samba singer, active between 1928 and 1971. He collaborated with artists such as Francisco Alves, Carmen Miranda, Aracy de Almeida and Noel Rosa and was particularly successful as a radio singer. Biography He graduated in Law and Social Sciences in the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro Faculty of Law, attending the same classes of Ary Barroso (LLB, 1929). He recorded many hits with Carmen Miranda and Francisco Alves, with whom also performed frequently in the 1930s, all of which are regarded as amongst the finest Brazilian singers of this period. António Vieira
Pedro António Vieira (; 6 February 160818 July 1697) was an Afro-Portuguese Jesuit priest, diplomat, orator, preacher, philosopher, writer, and member of the Royal Council to the King of Portugal. Biography Vieira was born in Lisbon to Cristóvão Vieira Ravasco, the son of a mulatto woman, Maria de Azevedo. In 1614 he accompanied his parents to the colony of Brazil, where his father had been posted as a registrar. He received his education at the Jesuit college at Bahia. He entered the Jesuit novitiate in 1625, under Father Fernão Cardim, and two years later pronounced his first vows.
