Juárez Metro Station
Juárez is a metro station on the Mexico City Metro. It is located in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City. Name and iconography The station logo depicts the bust of Benito Juárez (1806-1872), a Mexican lawyer and politician of Zapotec origin from Oaxaca who served five terms as the president of Mexico: 1858–1861 as interim, then 1861–1865, 1865–1867, 1867–1871 and 1871–1872 as constitutional president. This station's name, along with Metro Guelatao, refers to the Mexican politician and is located close to Juárez Avenue. The station opened on 20 November 1970, and has facilities for the handicapped. Benito Juárez
Benito Pablo Juárez García (; 21 March 1806 – 18 July 1872) was a Liberalism in Mexico, Mexican liberal politician and lawyer who served as the 26th president of Mexico from 1858 until his death in office in 1872. As a Zapotec peoples, Zapotec, he was the first Indigenous peoples of Mexico, indigenous president of Mexico and the first indigenous head of state in the postcolonial Americas. Born in Oaxaca to a poor rural family and orphaned as a child, Juárez was looked after by his uncle and eventually moved to Oaxaca City at the age of 12, working as a domestic servant. The Museo de Arte Popular (Museum of Folk Art) is a museum in Mexico City, Mexico that promotes and preserves part of the Mexican handcrafts and folk art. Located in the historic center of Mexico City in an old fire house, the museum has a collection which includes textiles, pottery, glass, piñatas, alebrijes, furniture and much more. Teatro Metropólitan
The Teatro Metropólitan is one of Mexico's best-known movie theaters. Before being the Teatro Metropólitan it was known as the Cine Metropólitan, and was built as a movie palace. The architect was Pedro Gorozpe E. with interior decorations by Aurelio G. Mendoza. The Cine Metropolitan opened on 8 September 1943 with the Argentinian film "Dieciséis años" (1943) starring María Duval and Alicia Barrié. Seating capacities were later reduced and given as 3,627 in 1955 and 3,005 in 1971. Eje Central
The Eje Central or Avenida Lázaro Cárdenas is an avenue in the Cuauhtémoc and Gustavo A. Madero boroughs of Mexico City, Mexico. It is part of a system called eje vial of roadways built by Carlos Hank González to modernize Mexico City for improved traffic flow through the city. As its name indicates, it runs through the central zones of the city, starting at Río de los Remedios Avenue (in the limits of Mexico City and Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico) and ending at Río Churubusco Avenue, near Eje Central metro station. Guelatao metro station is a Mexico City Metro station in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City. It is an at-grade station that serves Line A (the Purple Line) between Tepalcates and Peñón Viejo stations.
