Dwight Foster (December 13, 1828April 18, 1884) was an American lawyer and politician from Massachusetts. He served as Massachusetts Attorney General and was an associate justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Early life Foster was born in Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts and attended the common schools there and completed preparatory studies in Newport, Rhode Island. He graduated from Yale College in 1848, where he was a member of Skull and Bones. "This list is compiled from material from the Order of Skull and Bones membership books at Sterling Library, Yale University and other public records. The latest books available are the 1971 ''Living members'' and the 1973 ''Deceased Members'' books. The last year the members were published in the ''Yale Banner'' is 1969." Enoch Foster
Enoch Foster (May 10, 1839 – November 15, 1913) was a justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine. Biography Enoch Foster was born in Newry, Maine on May 10, 1839 and was of Puritan Yankee ancestry. He attended Bates College (then called the Maine State Seminary), graduating in 1860. He went on to enroll in Bowdoin in 1860 and graduated from Bowdoin College in 1864 after receiving credit for time he spent in the 13th Regiment of the Maine Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War, with his second degree. Foster studied law at Albany Law School and passed the bar exam in New York and Maine. Governor Robie appointed Foster to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court in 1884. After stepping down from the Supreme Court, Foster co-founded the firm of Foster and Hersey and remained active in the Republican Party, the Freemasons, Grand Army of the Republic and Odd Fellows. Sir Peter Harry Batson Woodroffe Foster, MBE, TD (5 December 1912 – 10 May 1985) was an English barrister and High Court judge from 1969 to 1983. Biography The son of Frank Foster, Peter Foster was educated at Rugby School and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge (BA, LLB). He was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1936. During the Second World War, Foster served with the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry. He saw action at Dunkirk with the 8th Armoured Division, El Alamein with the 18th Army Group, Tripoli with the 21st Army Group, and finally in North-Western Europe. He achieved the rank of colonel, was appointed MBE in 1943, and was mentioned in despatches three times. He received the Territorial Decoration in 1946. After the war, Foster returned to the Bar, and practiced in Chancery in the chambers of Andrew Clark. He became a Queen's Counsel in 1957. He became a Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1963. Sir Robert Foster (1589–1663) was an English judge and Chief Justice of the King's Bench. Early career Foster was the youngest son of Sir Thomas Foster, a judge of the common pleas in the time of James I. He was born in 1589, admitted a member of the Inner Temple in 1604, and called to the bar in January 1610. He was reader in the autumn of 1631, and with ten others received the degree of serjeant-at-law on 30 May 1636. On 27 January 1640 he succeeded Sir George Vernon as a justice of the Common Pleas and was knighted. Conduct during the Civil War and Protectorate He was an ardent royalist, is supposed to have defended ship money and billeting of troops, and joined king Charles I of England at Oxford on his retreat thither, but he was one of those judges for whose continuance in office the British House of Commons petitioned in 1643.
