Junk (Shinjuku Filth Album)
''Junk'' is the debut studio album of Shinjuku Filth, released in 1995 by Iridium Records. On May 21, 1996 the album was reissued on Full Contact Records. Reception Aiding & Abetting called ''Junk'' a "strident, brutal and ultimately beautiful work" and that " Shinjuku Filth has sonic construction (and reconstruction) down, and has ventured into a few previously unexplored territory here." Jason Ankeny of AllMusic awarded the album three out of five stars and said "the music ranges from hard-body dance to more ambient soundscapes; the penultimate track is, of all things, a cover of the Split Enz chestnut "Log Cabin Fever." Sonic Boom said "part of the musical allurement is derived from the fact for once a band with extensive musical training is now experimenting with some of the more popular electronic musical styles and as an end result is advancing the genre beyond the tunnel vision sights of some of the other premier electronic club bands." Shinjuku Filth
Darrin Verhagen is an Australian-born composer of dark ambient and gothic music. He has adopted several different monikers for his recorded output, depending on the genre including Shinjuku Thief, Shinjuku Filth and Professor Richmann. . After his first album ''Bloody Tourist'' was released, Verhagen founded Dorobo Records which he has continued to issue his music through. He has composed music for Australia's premiere arts companies (including Chunky Move, Australian Dance Theatre, Lucy Guerin, Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Daniel Schlusser Ensemble, Showtime Movie Channel, Patricia Piccinini, and SBS Television). He currently works as a senior lecturer in Sound + Vision in the Digital Media program, researcher at AkE (Audiokinetic Experiments) Lab RMIT University in Melbourne, with his work based in multisensory integration. ''Time and Tide'' is the seventh album by the New Zealand new wave band Split Enz, released in April 1982. It topped the album charts in New Zealand and Australia. At the 1982 Countdown Australian Music Awards, ''Time and Tide'' was named Best Australian Album, despite being a New Zealand album. The album was re-released in 2006 along with all of Split Enz's studio album catalogue. Some albums were rearranged, reordered or adjusted; ''Time and Tide'', however, was left unchanged. Compact Disc
The compact disc (CD) is a Digital media, digital optical disc data storage format that was co-developed by Philips and Sony to store and play digital audio recordings. In August 1982, the first compact disc was manufactured. It was then released in October 1982 in Japan and branded as ''Compact Disc Digital Audio, Digital Audio Compact Disc''. The format was later adapted (as CD-ROM) for general-purpose data storage. Several other formats were further derived, including write-once audio and data storage (CD-R), rewritable media (CD-RW), Video CD (VCD), Super Video CD (SVCD), Photo CD, Picture CD, Compact Disc-Interactive (CD-i) and Enhanced Music CD. Zalman Fishman
Fifth Colvmn Records was a record label based in Washington, DC. The label was founded in 1990 by Zalman Fishman, owner of the nightclub FIFTH COLVMN, located in Washington D.C. The label's first release was Chemlab's debut EP Ten Ton Pressure. Jared Hendrickson of Chemlab also became the general manager for the label. Chemlab later played several dates with Nine Inch Nails, eventually attracting a distribution deal for their next release, Burn Out at the Hydrogen Bar, with Metal Blade Records. The band Thud was the next artist to join the label. Heavy, loud and unrelenting, Thud became very popular amongst Metal fans and critics alike luring Eli Janney from Girls Against Boys to contribute to their debut record Life & Death and earning co-headling performances with Stone Temple Pilots. Black Lung (band)
David Thrussell is an Australian musician and a prolific composer of a wide range of genres. He is a founding member of the dark ambient and IDM outfits Snog and Soma as well as his work under the moniker Black Lung. Black Lung In 1994 Thrussell released ''Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars'', an album of B-sides from Snog's lengthy Australian CD singles for the German market - the Australian singles were up to 80 minutes, whereas chart-eligible singles in Germany could not be more than 21 minutes, so many tracks were left over. The album was mostly composed of instrumental tracks taken from Snog's first album ''Lies Inc.'' and the ''Hey, Christian God'' single. Neil Finn
Neil Mullane Finn (born 27 May 1958) is a New Zealand singer-songwriter and musician who is known for being a member of Crowded House, Split Enz (which he co-fronted with brother Tim), and Fleetwood Mac. Finn rose to prominence in the late 1970s with Split Enz and wrote many of the band's most successful songs, including " One Step Ahead", "History Never Repeats", " I Got You", and "Message to My Girl". After Split Enz broke up in 1984, Finn founded Crowded House with Split Enz's final drummer Paul Hester in 1985 and served as the band's lead singer. The group achieved international success in 1987 when they released the single "Don't Dream It's Over", written by Finn. After Crowded House disbanded in 1996, Finn and his brother released two albums as the Finn Brothers, before reforming Crowded House in 2006.
