Jumpstarted Plowhards
Jumpstarted Plowhards is an alternative rock band featuring Mike Watt ( The Minutemen, fIREHOSE) and Todd Congelliere (F.Y.P, Toys That Kill). Watt and Congelliere did an I-5 tour together and afterwards Watt asked Congelliere to do a project with him. Their debut album, ''Round One'', was released by Recess Records on October 4, 2019. Watt wrote fifteen tracks on bass to a click track and sent them to Congelliere who added guitars and vocals. Congelliere felt that a fifteen track album would be overly long so it was split into two albums worth of songs. ''Round One'' features a different drummer on each track such as Hole drummer Patty Schemel, Jimmy Felix ( Toys That Kill), and Watt's other musical partners George Hurley, Jerry Trebotic, Raul Morales Raul Morales, sometimes known as just "Rawl", has been one of San Pedro's most prolific drummers from the 1990s to present. Recess Records
Recess Records is an independent record label founded in 1988. Label founder Todd Congelliere (frontman for F.Y.P and Toys That Kill) initially made 100 cassettes of F.Y.P's songs and sold them at skateboard contests. Two years later, Congelliere released a vinyl record, F.Y.P's ''Extra Credit'', an 11-song 7-inch record, and the label took off from there. In between touring the U.S., Europe, and Japan, Congelliere began releasing records for fellow punk rock and DIY bands, eventually having a roster of close to 20 artists on his label. Pinhead Gunpowder, fronted by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, announced in April 2008 that a new 7" single from the band would be released on Recess Records in late May 2008. A click track is a series of audio cues used to synchronize sound recordings, sometimes for synchronization to a moving image. Mike Watt + The Missingmen
The Missingmen are a punk rock trio fronted by Minutemen/ Firehose/ Stooges bassist Mike Watt. The band features Watt, guitarist Tom Watson ( Slovenly, The Pair Of Pliers, The Jom And Terry Show, Red Krayola), and drummer Raul Morales ( FYP, Killer Dreamer, The Leeches, Mike Watt and the Secondmen). The band's name is a humorous reference to the fact that during a 2005 European tour behind Watt's album '' The Secondman's Middle Stand'', neither of the original Secondmen ( Pete Mazich and Jerry Trebotic) were able to participate. Raul Morales
Raul Morales, sometimes known as just "Rawl", has been one of San Pedro's most prolific drummers from the 1990s to present. Jerry Trebotic
Jerry Trebotic is an American drummer, best known for his longtime association with veteran punk bassist/songwriter Mike Watt, with whom he has toured in the project bands The Jom and Terry Show and The Secondmen. As part of the Secondmen, he played on Watt's third solo album, 2004's ''The Secondman's Middle Stand''. Trebotic has been known to spend free time playing blackjack at various casinos during tours. Familial responsibilities forced Trebotic to stop touring with the Secondmen in the summer of 2004. George Hurley
George Hurley (born September 4, 1958) is a drummer noted for his work with Minutemen and fIREHOSE. Music career Early years Originally from the East Coast, Hurley and his family moved to San Pedro, California, when he was six years old. Hurley was a surfer before devoting himself to music. A self-taught musician, Hurley created his own drumsticks out of Plexiglas and wood at the Boys Club in his youth. He got his first drumkit when he was nineteen after trading a motorcycle for it. Although he is known as a punk drummer, Hurley's musical influences are primarily jazz-based. Even though he went to the same high school as D. Boon and Mike Watt he did not meet them until around 1978. That same year, Hurley formed The Reactionaries with Boon, Watt, and Martin Tamburovich. Patty Schemel
Patricia Theresa Schemel (born April 24, 1967) is an American drummer and musician who rose to prominence as the drummer of alternative rock band Hole from 1992 until 1998. Born in Los Angeles, Schemel was raised in rural Marysville, Washington, where she developed an interest in punk rock music as a teenager. She began drumming at age eleven, and while in high school, formed several bands with her brother, Larry. Schemel was recommended as a drummer to Hole frontwoman Courtney Love by her husband, Kurt Cobain, a friend of Schemel's. She formally joined the band in 1992, and performed on their critically acclaimed second album, ''Live Through This'' (1994). Roderick Edward "Legs" McNeil (born January 27, 1956, in Cheshire, Connecticut, United States) is an American music journalist. He is one of the three original founders of the seminal ''Punk'' magazine that gave the movement its name; as well as being a former editor at ''Spin'' and editor-in-chief of ''Nerve Magazine''. Firehose (stylized as fIREHOSE) was an American alternative rock band consisting of Mike Watt (bass, vocals), Ed Crawford (guitar, vocals), and George Hurley (drums). They were initially active from 1986 to 1994, and briefly reunited in 2012. History Firehose was formed in the spring of 1986 shortly after the accidental death of D. Boon brought an end to Watt and Hurley's previous band, Minutemen. Crawford, a then 21-year-old Ohio State student and Minutemen fan, was invited up on the roof of Camper Van Beethoven's van in Columbus, Ohio. The members of Camper Van Beethoven told Crawford a false rumor that Watt and Hurley were auditioning guitarists for the band.
