Juliet Palmer is a contemporary composer living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada Career Juliet Kiri Palmer was born in New Zealand in 1967, where she completed graduate studies in composition, clarinet and time-based art at the University of Auckland. She moved to New York City in 1990 to work with interdisciplinary pioneer Meredith Monk and obtained her PhD at Princeton University in 1999. Now living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she is an active composer and interdisciplinary artist. Her compositions cover a wide range from chamber music and dance theatre to orchestral and opera. Palmer's music has been featured in festivals in US, UK, New Zealand, Netherlands, Japan, Italy, France, Austria and Canada. Meredith Monk
Meredith Jane Monk (born November 20, 1942) is an American composer, performer, director, vocalist, filmmaker, and choreographer. From the 1960s onwards, Monk has created multi-disciplinary works which combine music, theatre, and dance, recording extensively for ECM Records. In 1991, Monk composed ''Atlas'', an opera, commissioned and produced by the Houston Opera'' '' and the American Music Theater Festival. Her music has been used in films by the Coen Brothers (''The Big Lebowski'', 1998) and Jean-Luc Godard (''Nouvelle Vague'', 1990 and ''Notre musique'', 2004). Chamber Music
Chamber music is a form of classical music that is composed for a small group of instruments—traditionally a group that could fit in a palace chamber or a large room.
