Julia Roberts (QVC Presenter)
Julia Roberts (born 10 June 1956) is a British television home shopping host on the shopping channel QVC. Dancer Roberts started her career as a cabaret dancer, supporting Cannon and Ball in a summer season in Guernsey, and then followed their act on to television. She supplemented this work with various supporting cast roles on TV including ''Citizen Smith'' and '' Doctor Who'' in 1979, Christmas pantomimes and dancing on cruise liners. She then took a job in a cabaret show in Hong Kong, dancing and singing. Roberts returned to the UK, and appeared in various commercials, including the Woolwich Building Society and ''Head & Shoulders'' shampoo. In 1980, she was approached by a group called The Main Event to sing on their Eurovision Song contest entry, "I'm Gonna Do My Best To Please You" – which came last. A home shopping host is the on-air host that partners with guests on television shopping channels, such as HSN, QVC, Jewelry Television and ShopHQ. The job of a home shopping host is to introduce new presenters and guests to the television audience, and help these guests explain the values and features of the product being showcased. Bucks Fizz (band)
Bucks Fizz were a British pop group that achieved success in the 1980s, most notably for winning the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Making Your Mind Up". The group was formed in January 1981 specifically for the contest and comprised four vocalists: Bobby G, Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston. They received attention for the dance routine which accompanied the song, in which the male members of the group ripped the female members' outer skirts off to reveal much shorter mini-skirts beneath. The group went on to have a successful career around the world (although they were commercially unsuccessful in the United States), but the UK remained their biggest market, where they had three No.1 singles with "Making Your Mind Up" (1981), " The Land of Make Believe" (1981) and "My Camera Never Lies" (1982) and became one of the top-selling groups of the 1980s. British International Motor Show
The British International Motor Show is an annual motor show held by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders between 1903 and 2008 in England, and as The British Motor Show since 2021 by Automotion Events. Initially held in London at The Crystal Palace, Olympia and then the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, it moved to the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham in 1978, where it stayed until 2004. It was held at ExCeL London in 2006 and 2008 and now based in Farnborough (Hampshire) at the airport exhibition centre. The 2010 and 2012 events were cancelled due to the global financial crisis. Between 2016 and 2019 there were annual motor shows held under the London Motor Show banner. Television presentation refers to the way in which television stations present themselves between programs. It has become increasingly important in the recent multichannel television environment for television stations to create an attractive and distinct on-air appearance, through the various elements that form the 'television presentation' umbrella. These include idents, the short clips that are often shown before a program on many stations. They often consist of an animated form of the station's logo, and many have a continuity announcer who speaks over the clip with information about programs on the station. Some stations, such as BBC One in the UK have used live action idents since 1997. This approach however is less common.
