Judy Of Rogue's Harbor
''Judy of Rogue's Harbor'' is a 1920 American silent drama film directed by William Desmond Taylor and starring Mary Miles Minter. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Grace Miller White, with a scenario by Clara Beranger. It was produced by Famous Players-Lasky and distributed through Realart and Paramount Pictures. As with many of Minter's features, it is thought to be a lost film. Plot As described in various film magazine reviews, Judy (Minter), is a young girl living in poverty in Rogue's Harbor with her "Grandpap" Ketchel (Roberts), Olive (Ridgeway) and Denny (Lee), whom she believes to be her sister and cousin respectively. "Grandpap" is consistently cruel, to Denny especially, and he is aided in this cruelty by Jim Schuckles (Sears), who hopes to wed Judy. Judy's confidante is the mysterious "Lady of the Roses" (King), to whom she eventually brings Denny to keep him safe from "Grandpap" and Jim. William Desmond Taylor
William Desmond Taylor (born William Cunningham Deane-Tanner, 26 April 1872 – 1 February 1922) was an Anglo-Irish-American film director and actor. A popular figure in the growing Hollywood motion picture colony of the 1910s and early 1920s, Taylor directed fifty-nine silent films between 1914 and 1922 and acted in twenty-seven between 1913 and 1915. Theodore Roberts (October 8, 1861 – December 14, 1928) was an American film and stage actor. Early life Roberts was born in San Francisco, California. He was a cousin of the stage actress Florence Roberts. His choice of a career disappointed his mother (who wanted him to become a minister) and his father (who wanted him to learn a trade). Career Roberts debuted on stage at the Baldwin Theatre in San Francisco in 1880. He went on to act with a barnstorming troupe on the West Coast but tired of that lifestyle after several years and left acting for a time to command a schooner owned by his father. George Periolat
George Periolat (February 5, 1874 – February 20, 1940) was an American actor. Biography Born in Chicago, Illinois, George Periolat began his career as a Broadway actor. Making his film debut with the Essanay Studios in Chicago, he moved to Hollywood in 1911 and starred in over 170 films throughout his career. He was a very versatile actor, often playing multiple roles in a single production, as when he played two leading characters, the count and the crook, in the 1916 production of '' The Counterfeit Earl''. The story of Norma Desmond, though fictitious, is not far removed from the plight of many silent film stars, and the advent of the sound film brought about a swift end to Periolat's career. He made his last appearance in 1932's ''What Price Hollywood?''. On February 20, 1940, he committed suicide by ingesting arsenic in his Hollywood mansion.
